Fiscal Responsibility Act

On Wednesday, I voted against the Fiscal Responsibility Act that was considered on the House Floor.

While the deal outlined in the Fiscal Responsibility Act may present some short-term improvements, unfortunately, for me, this deal doesn’t go far enough to address the key drivers of our national debt and falls short of the necessary reforms to fix a broken Washington. It still adds nearly $4 trillion to our national debt and does not stop the out-of-control government spending that will bankrupt our children and grandchildren.

I will continue fighting for the people of southern Minnesota by supporting solutions that truly bend the curve on the national debt and get a handle on rampant government spending that is fueling the inflation that is economically crippling families across the First District.

Holding Mexico Accountable under USMCA

Today, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai announced the United States has requested dispute settlement consultations with Mexico under USMCA.

Mexico's threat to ban U.S. biotech corn is a step back for science-based trade and would cost the ag export industry $30 billion if action isn't taken immediately. Earlier this week, I joined over 60 of my House colleagues in sending a letter to the U.S. Trade Representative, urging her to fully utilize the tools USTR has under USMCA to hold Mexico accountable to its commitments.

June is Dairy Month
Image
This month is National Dairy Month, when we celebrate all of the hard-working dairy farmers who provide us with safe and nutritious dairy products.
I am proud to be an original cosponsor of the Agricultural Export Promotion Act, which will strengthen important trade marketing and promotion programs in the Farm Bill, unlocking more opportunities for U.S. dairy farmers to market their product to the world.
To all of the dairy producers across MN-01, thank you for what you do!

As always, it is an honor to serve you in Congress. Please don't hesitate to contact my office if there is anything I can do to assist you.
