Improving the Conservation Reserve Program

Image
This week, I introduced the CRP Modernization Act which will provide meaningful updates to the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). This legislation makes commonsense changes to CRP by utilizing science-based targeting of acreage for enrollment, while protecting marginal and unfarmable land for conservation and wildlife habitat.

I’m proud to lead this legislation, which reflects the conservation needs of farmers and landowners by ensuring they have the tools to protect our most valuable resources.

Strengthening Risk Management Tools with the FARMER Act

Today, I introduced the Federal Agriculture Risk Management Enhancement and Resilience (FARMER) Act, legislation which will strengthen crop insurance and make higher levels of coverage more affordable for producers.

Crop insurance is farmers’ number-one risk management tool, providing farmers in southern Minnesota with certainty for their business. I’m proud to introduce this legislation with Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (MN-07), which will help make crop insurance more affordable, and reduce the need for ad-hoc assistance when disaster strikes, ensuring that family farmers can pass their operations down to the next generation.

Ag on the Mall

On Wednesday, I joined my fellow members of the House Ag Committee at Ag on the Mall, an event hosted by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). There, we heard from ag industry stakeholders about innovation and technology in the ag sector.

Ag on the Mall brings together two of my favorite things: agriculture and serving Minnesota’s First District. Thanks to AEM for hosting such an informative event and bringing agriculture innovation to our nation’s capital.

Celebrating Minnesota's Registered Nurses
Image
This week was National Nurses Week. Nurses in Minnesota and across the country are on the front lines, providing the expertise and compassion it takes to ensure that patients are receiving the best care possible.

Thank you to all the nurses in MN-01 and across our country who dedicate their time and careers to ensuring our communities are healthy.

Protecting Jewish Students on College Campuses

Since Hamas launched their heinous terrorist attacks on Israel last October, there have been a disturbing number of antisemitic outbursts on college campuses. Across the country, pro-Palestine protesters are occupying campuses, destroying property, and creating an unsafe environment for Jewish students. Recently, some of these protests have openly and explicitly called for the genocide of Jews.

Last December, three college presidents testified before Congress about antisemitic activity on their campuses. During the hearing, these individuals were asked if calls for genocide would constitute harassment or bullying. All three presidents failed to condemn these calls for violence, and I was proud to cosign a letter calling for their removal.

Unfortunately, these schools, and many across the country have been far too complacent in addressing the hateful antisemitism and dangerous protests occurring on their campuses. I want to hear from you. Should police crack down on these protests which are compromising student safety?
