Under President Biden, America has experienced the worst border crisis in our history. In the past two years, President Biden and congressional Democrats have repeatedly ignored the reality at our borders and have refused to acknowledge the consequences of their failed policies.

Since Joe Biden took office, there have been more than 5 million illegal crossings at the southern border, U.S. Border Patrol has seized enough fentanyl to kill 3.1 billion people, and nearly 200 individuals whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were apprehended trying to cross the border.

If the administration is not willing to address this mess, we will. Border security is national security, which is why we introduced the Secure the Border Act. This legislation has two fundamental goals: to defend the border and combat illegal immigration. Our plan will deploy new technology to prevent illegal crossings at our northern and southern borders, increase the number of Border Patrol agents, end catch and release, strengthen current laws to prevent human trafficking, force the Biden administration to restart construction of the border wall and streamline the asylum process.

Current open-border policies have created national security and humanitarian crises on our borders, the consequences of which have been felt across the country. Already this year, immigration officials on our Northern border have seen a 743% spike in illegal immigrants trying to enter our country. Just last year, four Indian nationals including two children, were found frozen to death mere feet from the U.S. border. This is not compassion; it is inhumane and cruel. We must take concrete action and passing the Secure the Border Act is just the first step.
