Dear Friend,
As Congress wraps up its August work period, we wanted to give a short update on our work in the district over the past few weeks.
Congressman Emmer greets constituents following town hall event
Our office was proud to host three in-person town halls throughout the district during August. Hundreds of Minnesotans showed up across the three events to voice their concerns, present ideas, and give feedback. As I have said for years, Congress is a customer service business. And as your “Customer Service Representative” in Congress, we always welcome your input. If you were unable to make it to one of the town halls and would like to get in contact with us, you can do so here.
We participated in a Post Office renaming ceremony in honor of fallen Army National Guard Warrant Officer Candidate Kort M. Plantenberg. In 2019, Kort lost his life alongside two fellow guardsmen when their helicopter experienced a mid-flight mechanical failure near St. Cloud.

Kort and his fellow guardsmen gave their lives in service to Minnesota, and we will never forget their sacrifice. We were proud to introduce the legislation that renamed the Avon Post Office in Kort’s honor and will continue to do all we can to honor him and his fellow fallen guardsmen.
Congressman Emmer’s Young Women’s Leadership Program
We hosted the final two sessions of the 2023 Young Women’s Leadership Program. We launched this program in the summer of 2016 and have been thrilled with the response. These last two sessions focused on increasing financial literacy and learning how to maintain and manage mental health. We want to extend a special thank you to all our outstanding female panelists who volunteered their time to lead these sessions, and to the young women who participated in the program!
Congressman Emmer presents The Congressional Award to Blaine students
We also had the opportunity to present Andrew Rono and Aaron Anderson, two students from Blaine High School, with The Congressional Award. This award is the highest honor for young Americans awarded by the United States Congress.
To earn the award, Andrew and Aaron spent more than 900 hours volunteering at the North Anoka County Emergency food shelf. They also spent more than 200 hours working on physical fitness and went on several cultural expeditions. Aaron and Andrew are both bright young men committed to making a difference in the world and I look forward to seeing all they accomplish in the years to come.
Finally, we have opened a new office in Chaska! The opening of this new office reflects our deep commitment to serving the people of Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District and will allow our office to be even more responsive to the needs of our constituents.
