Dear Friend,
You never know where the next big idea will come from. Among America’s 33 million small businesses are companies destined to scroll across the ticker of the New York Stock Exchange.
It’s an unfortunate misconception that the “unicorns” of tomorrow are all founded in Silicon Valley. These companies are being developed in communities across America, and limiting their access to capital sells our economic future short. Recently, we reintroduced the Main Street Growth Act. This bill will provide transformative opportunities for small businesses across the country.
The Main Street Growth Act allows the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to create new venture capital exchanges which will allow small and emerging companies to access the investment they need to grow. These exchanges will encourage more early-stage Initial Public Offerings and will enable everyday investors to buy a stake in these early-stage, potentially high-growth companies that were previously restricted to high-net-worth accredited investors.
The Main Street Growth Act is a common-sense piece of legislation that will unleash the economic power of small businesses across America.
I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support the continued growth and success of our nation’s entrepreneurs..
Sincerely,
|
