Dear Friend:

Last week, the House voted on the America CONCEDES Act. This bill is nothing more than a Progressive wish list full of Green New Deal initiatives. I've come to expect nothing less from the far-Left, but this time, they did it under the guise of increasing America's competitiveness with China. The bill does nothing to improve our position there, and a lot of things in there will help China more than the U.S.

For example, it includes the Reclaiming the Solar Supply Chain Act of 2021. On the surface, this looks like this is meant to decrease energy reliance on China. But if that's true, why did the Biden Administration cancel leases for a Minnesota company mining for critical minerals vital to the domestic production of solar panels. The result? The U.S. is being forces to outsource this production TO CHINA. How can we "reclaim the solar supply chain" while outsourcing those very projects to our competition? Our competition, who also happens to be the largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world and uses inhumane labor practices.

This bill reflects the patterns of this Administration. They claim we need to address climate change now, but then delay compliance with the renewable fuel standard that provides lower-emission fuel for our vehicle fleet. They cancel our domestic pipeline construction while allowing our adversaries to keep theirs. They don't mind activities that hurt the environment, as long as the U.S. is keeping it in someone else's backyard.

Continuing Resolution to Fund the Government

This week, the House voted on a continuing resolution. This will only fund the government through March 11. Fiscal Year 2022 started over four months ago. But because of Democrats' reckless insistence on moving their Build Back Broke spending bill, their so-called voting rights legislation, and the America CONCEDES Act, we are now confronted with passing another Continuing Resolution to avoid a shutdown rather than a realistic appropriations bill. One of Congress's primary responsibilities is to fund the government. The Majority has had a terrible time managing that duty responsibly.

We are now accepting applications for Summer interns in my D.C. and district offices. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience working in Congress on things that matter to the 7th District and to America.

iSSNRC Now Available in Minnesota

Internet Social Security Number Replacement Cards (iSSNRC) are now available for Minnesotans! U.S. citizens age 18 or older and who are residents of Minnesota can request a replacement SSN card online by creating a my Social Security account. They must have a U.S. domestic mailing address, not require a change to their record (such as a name change), and have a valid driver's license.

For more questions, and to submit a request, please visit the Social Security Administration website.

Coming Up...

At the end of the week, I'll be joining my friend Rep. Pete Stauber and the Western Caucus in a mining and forestry field tour! I look forward to showing Reps Newhouse (the Western Caucus Chair), Westerman, Tiffany, Carl, and Obernotle some of what Minnesota has to offer and meeting with mining and logging representatives.

As always, my office is open and ready to serve constituents of Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to help. Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
