Dear Friend:

Last week, the Ways & Means Committee headed to Petersburg, WV for our first field hearing under a Republican majority, and my first on the committee. We heard from a 25-year employee of Allegheny Wood Products, a local restaurant owner and mother of three, a veteran and co-owner of a local distillery, and a West Virginia native who has worked in the coal industry for 30 years. This Ways & Means Committee is going to prioritize the voices and the concerns of the American people.

Voting to Repeal Dangerous D.C. Laws

D.C. wants to give illegal immigrants the right to vote in local elections and double down on their soft-on-crime agenda. Granting illegal immigrants the right to vote dilutes every lawful vote and their "Revised Criminal Code Act" eliminates mandatory minimums, reduces penalties for violent crimes, and bottles up courts that are paid for by the federal government. Western Minnesota knows these efforts won't stay in Washington. If we do not take a stand on these issues here and now, these radical ideas will continue to spread across the country. That's why the House passed H.J. Res. 24 and H.J. Res. 26 to repeal these laws.

Budget Committee Assignment

For the last two years, Democrats have been on an irresponsible spending spree with taxpayer dollars, and I look forward to joining the Budget Committee to get this country back on track. I'm honored Speaker McCarthy has entrusted me with a role on this crucial committee - which is responsible for building the annual budget resolution to create boundaries for Congress as it considers government spending - and look forward to serving under Chairman Jodey Arrington as we work to restore fiscal sanity in Congress.
