Dear Friend:

This week, the House passed the reauthorization for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Actwhich strengthens the workforce development system, encourages innovation, and offers career opportunities for millions of Americans.

If you or someone you know has taken workforce development training or participated in career and technical education programs, this legislation helped make that possible.

House Republicans have also made reforms to the original legislation that addresses the challenges workforces have faced in the decade since it was first enacted. For example, it emphasizes employer-led initiatives that equip workers with the skill sets to fill jobs in critical industries and advance their careers. It also emphasizes work-based learning for youth and enhances workforce education programs at community and technical colleges that align with in-demand jobs. These changes ensure that workers, including those without a bachelor's degree, can build their skills to access good-paying jobs.

Congressional Art Competition: Deadline April 26

I encourage high school students from Minnesota’s Seventh Congressional District to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition. This longstanding, non-partisan tradition is a wonderful opportunity for students from across the district to showcase their creativity and hard work. Winners will have their work on display in my Moorhead, Willmar, and Washington, D.C. offices, and the first place winner will have their work hung in the U.S. Capitol, where it will be seen by members of Congress, staff, and thousands of visitors from across the world.

The deadline for submission is April 26th. For more information, please visit my website

Thanks for reading!

As always, my office is open and ready to serve constituents of Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to help. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
