Dear Friend:

We hit the ground running this Congress, passing legislation to protect American communities and supporting President Trump's America First policies, and I am working hard to protect your 2nd Amendment rights. I'm excited to share some of that work with you. If you know someone you think would be interested in updates on what I've been working on, I encourage you to share this email with them!

Concealed Carry Reciprocity

As I'm sure you know, states have varying concealed carry permit laws, and many states do not have reciprocity with each other. Minnesota is one of the stricter states with regard to reciprocity. This is unnecessarily complicated and allows more liberal states, like Minnesota, California, and New York,  to deny concealed carry licenses from other states.

Your Constitutional right to defend yourself does not end at a political jurisdiction like a state border. And one could certainly argue that the need to defend oneself is even greater in soft-on-crime liberal cities and states. For this reason, I cosponsored the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which provides reciprocity across all states as long as the firearm carrier abides by the laws of the state they are in. It just makes sense.

FIND Act

Federal agencies often contract with outside businesses, and I want to make sure those contractors don't work to negatively impact your Second Amendment rights. For example, I cosponsored the Firearm Industry Non-Discrimination (FIND) Act to prohibit the federal government from contracting with companies or organizations that discriminate against the firearms industry.

The government shouldn't subsidize unpatriotic companies with federal contracts if they are undermining legitimate, constitutionally based U.S. businesses. This legislation will push back on efforts from companies that target the firearms industry and associations.

Protecting Access for Hunters

The previous administration issued a rule prohibiting the use of lead ammunition and tackle in eight national wildlife refuges, impacting over 3 million acres of land. Lead ammunition is easier to make and more readily available for consumers. This rule would increase the financial barriers for sportsmen and women across the country, making hunting less accessible.

Hunting and fishing is a way of life in Minnesota, and I intend to make it as accessible to future generations as possible. That is why I cosponsored the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act, which prohibits the Secretary of Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture from implementing this rule.
