Dear Friend:

This week marked 100 days of President Trump's second term in the White House. As promised, and as mandated by the American people in November, President Trump has been working at a breakneck pace to secure our borders, lower costs, unleash American energy, root out the waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government, regain respect globally, and put America first. Today, the border is effectively closed. Over 100 nations have requested meetings with the White House to invest in America or negotiate more favorable trade policies for the U.S. The Department of Government Efficiency has already saved an estimated $160,000,000,000, which is about $1,000 per taxpayer. And costs on everything from gas to prescription drugs are down. Those are promises made and kept.

Congressional Art Competition Winners

Thank you to everyone who submitted art for this year's competition! My office received almost 50 submissions this year, and with so many wonderful pieces, deciding the winner was not easy.

Congratulations to Braxton, Sidney, Carlie, and our first-place winner, Shoshannah, whose painting 'Sunset Summer Nights' will hang in the U.S. Capitol to be seen by thousands of people, including staff, distinguished guests, and Members of Congress. Thank you all again, and I look forward to seeing where your talents will take you.

Overturning EV Mandates

California has been pushing to ban gas-powered vehicles and mandate that their state use exclusively electric vehicles by 2035. This would impact manufacturers, businesses, and drivers across the country. This is an outrageous agenda and proves how little they understand about the rest of America. A person cannot get across the wide rural areas in the 7th District in the winter in a fully electric vehicle, let alone a fully electric semi-truck. Not to mention this mandate would also increase car prices nationwide and strain our electric grid. So, not only does it dramatically limit consumer choice, but it is also dangerous.

House Republicans do understand America. This week, the House passed three Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions that would overturn California's ridiculous Green New Scam agenda. Namely, the CRAs overturn the Biden administration's waivers requested by the California Air Resources Board (CARB): the Advanced Clean Cars II regulation, the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation, and the Omnibus Low-NOx Emissions rule.

Thanks for visiting!

The University of Minnesota President, Rebecca Cunningham, came to my office where we discussed the need for workforce development in key sectors and how ag research in places like their Morris and Crookston campuses can help keep rural students stay close to home and bolster rural communities.

Thank you to the Nurse Anesthetists for taking the time to meet with me and discuss your priorities for the year.

It was great meeting with the Minnesota Bankers Association this week to talk about their priorities. About 95% of the banks in Minnesota are members of their association!

I always enjoy talking with members of the Land O'Lakes team and hearing their perspective on tax, trade, and the Farm Bill.

Thank you to the Minnesota Rural Electric Association for coming to Washington and talking with me about permitting reform, the RUS loan program, and the EPA’s Power Plant Rule and how it is impacting electric co-ops.
