Dear Friend:

Telephone Town Hall Recap

Image

Thank you to the nearly 7,000 constituents across Western Minnesota who joined me for my latest telephone town hall! It was a privilege to connect with so many of you.

We had a great conversation about my work to protect your hard-earned tax dollars through three new bills I have introduced to end fraud and protect whistleblowers. I also appreciated the chance to share updates on my Biobased Materials Investment and Production Act and my ongoing fight for the 2026 Farm Bill. Your questions and poll responses are invaluable to me  as I continue fighting for the 7th District.

On The House Floor

Last week, I joined my colleagues in passing several key bills to support our producers, streamline government, and keep our skies safe. Here are the highlights:

Helping Farmers Recover Faster
The Emergency Conservation Program Improvement Act ensures our farmers and ranchers are not left footing the bill alone after natural disasters. This bill allows producers to receive up to 75% of cost-sharing payments in advance to repair farmland and structures, providing immediate relief when it's needed most.

Modernizing Aviation Safety
In response to recent midair collisions, the ALERT Act of 2026 mandates that the FAA and the Department of Defense modernize collision-avoidance technology. By requiring advanced tracking systems and better coordination in airspaces, we are taking steps to protect passengers and pilots.

Ending Unfair Environmental Penalties
The FENCES Act: Prevents the EPA from penalizing American communities for air pollution that drifts in from outside the US. Minnesota should not be responsible for air quality issues that we don't cause.

The RED Tape Act: Cuts through redundant bureaucracy by eliminating double-reviews for federal construction projects. If a project has already cleared a major environmental review (NEPA), the EPA should not be able to stall it with more paperwork.

Thanks for Visiting!

I sat down with the Minnesota Pork Producers to discuss the path forward for the 2026 Farm Bill and the critical need for a federal solution to Proposition 12. We discussed my bill, the Investing in Rural America Act, which is included in the Farm Bill, to help community banks finance essential facilities like rural healthcare and childcare.

I also met with members of Growth Energy to advocate for year-round E15 sales and expanded biofuel opportunities. Standardizing E15 year-round will save Minnesota families at the pump and boost demand for our corn farmers. We discussed implementation of the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Tax Credit, and I will continue to push the administration to provide clear guidance that recognizes the sustainable on-farm conservation practices our producers already use.

I had the opportunity to speak with a group of students from New York Mills who were visiting our nation’s capital! It is always a highlight of my work in Washington to hear directly from the next generation of leaders about the issues that matter most to them. We discussed the importance of civic engagement and what it’s like to represent Western Minnesota in Congress, and I was incredibly impressed by their thoughtful questions and dedication to their community.

Congressional Art Challenge

Image

I encourage high school students from Minnesota’s Seventh Congressional District to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition. This longstanding, non-partisan tradition is a wonderful opportunity for students from across the district to showcase their creativity and hard work. Winners will have their work on display in my Moorhead, Willmar, and Washington, D.C. offices, and the first-place winner will have their work hung in the U.S. Capitol, where it will be seen by members of Congress, staff, and thousands of visitors from across the world.

The submission deadline is 5 p.m. CT on Monday, April 20, 2026. For more information, please visit my website
