Dear Friend:
The last couple of weeks, I have been voting in DC and traveling throughout the district to meet with our local business owners, healthcare leaders, and city officials who are working to keep our communities strong. From voting to slash the red tape that has slowed our housing market, to defending Main Street from crushing taxes, and fighting to bring your hard-earned tax dollars back to our rural towns, my mission remains clear: putting American taxpayers first, defending your pocketbook, and stopping government overreach from impacting local businesses. |

Housing Affordability for the 21st Century
I voted yes to pass the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act!
Rising construction costs, regulatory delays, and outdated zoning constraints are driving up housing costs and leaving the country short of 5.5 million houses.
This bill will pave the way for more affordable housing choices for families by:
- Removing unnecessary regulatory barriers and modernizing HUD programs to build more homes, faster.
- Streamlining regulations on local banks so they can focus on financing home mortgages and construction loans.
- Lowering costs, expanding options, and improving veterans' access to housing assistance.
- Stopping massive corporations from buying up single-family homes will increase housing availability for home buyers.

Defending Small Businesses

I toured the Ag Builders facility in Windom to discuss equipment financing and operational factors affecting our agribusinesses. Businesses across the district are facing fluctuating input costs and prices, which means they need tax policies to help them plan for the future. As a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, I support pro-growth tax policies, like the One Big Beautiful Bill, which permanently restored the 100% Bonus Depreciation for equipment, provided full expensing for research & development, and promoted made-in-America manufacturing.
I also visited the team at Hank’s Foods in Pipestone to discuss the staffing shortages impacting independent grocers across the district. Our local businesses are having to find innovative ways to attract workers while operating on thin margins. I am pushing for common-sense workforce development, apprenticeship programs, and legislation that would protect workers from bureaucratic overreach and provide stability for our local employers.

Upgrading Rural Infrastructure

I met with local leaders in Ruthton to review the $750,000 Community Project Funding grant I successfully secured in the 2026 Fiscal Year Appropriations for their water tower replacement project. This funding is the first step in a broader plan to completely overhaul aging drinking water and sewer systems to ensure the community has safe drinking water. Our small towns should not be left behind just because they lack the administrative staff to hunt down federal dollars. If you are a local official and need assistance with a federal grant, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office.

Protecting Rural Healthcare

Strong economic growth comes from the bottom up, which is why I sat down with the Lincoln County Economic Development Corp to discuss regional healthcare and rural development. I am proud to report that my legislation, the Investing in Rural America Act, has been officially integrated into the House-Passed Farm Bill. This bill allows Farm Credit institutions to partner with local community banks to bring capital back to our small towns, unlocking the financing needed to build local health clinics, childcare centers, and emergency services.
I had a conversation with leadership at Windom Area Health about the need for our families to have access to quality local medical care. Through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, I successfully fought to establish the Rural Health Transformation Program, which authorizes $50 billion to modernize rural medical networks nationwide. For fiscal year 2026, I worked to secure $193 million in federal funding specifically to strengthen Greater Minnesota's healthcare workforce, expand medical access, and ensure our rural hospitals have the resources they need to keep their doors open.
