Putting American Farmers First

Last week, I voted to pass the Fiscal Year 2027 Agriculture Appropriations bill. This legislation is a win for farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. It strengthens domestic production, improves tracking of foreign-owned farmland, and pushes back on foreign influence in American agriculture.
House Republicans are funding the priorities that matter: food safety, animal and crop health, rural development, and nutrition programs, while cutting costly climate programs and wasteful red tape.
This House-passed bill also contained Community Project Funding for 3 projects in the district, including funding for a dam replacement in Gaylord and funding for waste & water upgrades in Red Lake Falls and Akeley.
A Few Highlights of the Bill:
- Provides $3.81 billion for rural development, including $40 million to expand rural broadband.
- Adds $10.8 million to support frontline state meat and poultry inspectors and boosts funding for crop and animal health.
- Increases funding by $19 million for Farm Service Agency (FSA) staff to support the One Farmer, One File initiative
