Traverse Electric Co-Op

I had a great meeting with the leadership team at Traverse Electric Co-Op in Wheaton to discuss cutting regulatory red tape, strengthening our energy infrastructure, and ensuring our rural communities continue to have access to reliable, affordable power.
Rural electric cooperatives face the challenge of aging systems that are vulnerable to severe weather. To ensure our energy co-ops have the tools they need to modernize and respond to emergencies, I am a proud cosponsor of the Fixing Emergency Management for Americans (FEMA) Act. This bipartisan bill speeds up funding delivery so our co-ops and local communities can rebuild quickly if severe weather strikes.
We also discussed Rural Utilities Service (RUS) loans, which help finance critical grid upgrades. To help fund the demand for these upgrades, I supported the House-passed 2027 Agriculture Appropriations bill, which boosts RUS loan capacity and increases investments in rural infrastructure. |
