Dear Friend:

Last week, the House, with my support, passed several pieces of critical legislation, including the Stop Insider Trading Act, the National Defense Authorization Act, the Main Street Capital Access Act, and the Removing Barriers to Work for Disabled Americans Act. These bills stop your tax dollars from funding military DEI programs, support local banks, and help Social Security beneficiaries get back to work.

Supporting Crop Protection Tools

Food security is national security, and our agricultural producers need access to safe, proven tools to keep feeding our nation and the world.

Last week, I led a coalition of my colleagues in sending a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin, urging the agency to correct Biden-Era regulatory overreach and restore full access to Chlorpyrifos, a crop-protection tool our farmers rely on.

The EPA's own scientific risk modeling supports the safe use of Chlorpyrifos. Stripping away effective tools forces growers toward costlier alternatives that offer less protection against destructive pests, putting an unnecessary burden on our ag community.

Funding American Strength

The House passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to restore America's lethal capabilities, increase service members' quality of life, and cut wasteful, woke DEI programs.

The 2027 NDAA delivers on Republicans' promise to deliver Peace through Strength by:

  • Providing the funding needed to expand U.S. production capacity, restore depleted stockpiles, strengthen shipyards, grow the defense workforce, and create thousands of skilled American jobs.
  • Advancing more than 65 of President Trump's executive orders and legislative proposals to strengthen nuclear deterrence, expand missile defense, and invest in next-generation war-fighting capabilities.
  • Providing a 5% to 7% pay raise for all service members while improving military housing, education, childcare access, and quality of life.
  • Eliminating nearly $30 billion in wasteful programs, creating a task force to stop fraudulent payments, and cutting out DEI and woke policies.

Supporting Our Local Banks

Strong community banks mean strong rural communities. When hometown lenders are forced to follow the same heavy-handed federal regulations as massive Wall Street institutions, it is our local families, ag producers, and small businesses in Western Minnesota that pay the price.

That is why I voted to pass the Main Street Capital Access Act!

This legislation restores regulatory fairness and cuts unnecessary red tape. By tailoring regulations to fit local financial institutions rather than mega-banks, this bill ensures our local community lenders can focus on helping local families buy homes, funding farm operations, and helping Main Street small businesses expand.

Thanks for Visiting!

The American Soybean Association stopped by to discuss the need for a swift and efficient review process for approving science-based, effective crop protection tools, like Chlorpyrifos, to help improve yields for our farmers. We also discussed the need for the House-passed Farm Bill to pass through the Senate and be signed into law!
