Honoring WWII Veteran Dwight Stevens

It was a privilege to host the Stevens family, Veteran Service Officer Trish Appeldorn, and Brian Gislason from the Willmar VFW as we presented eight military honors recognizing WWII veteran Dwight Stevens.

Dwight served with the 10th Armored Division, fighting in major engagements including the Battle of Metz and the Battle of the Bulge, helping capture Trier, and participating in the liberation of the Landsberg Dachau subcamp complex. Because his original military records were destroyed in the 1973 National Archives fire, this long-overdue recognition was made possible through secondary historical records and family accounts.

The freedoms we enjoy every day exist because brave Americans like Dwight stepped up. We can never fully repay our veterans, but we can ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten. Thank you to the Stevens family for keeping his legacy alive and continuing a strong tradition of public and military service.

Remembering 9/11

On September 11th, I joined community members, service members, first responders, and veterans at the Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum to reflect on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and honor the lives lost.

We paid tribute to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who answered the call to serve in the years following the attacks. May we never forget the sacrifices made, and may we continue to uphold the spirit of unity and patriotism that carried our nation through one of its darkest hours.

Breakfast on the Farm

I always appreciate the opportunity to meet with Western Minnesota farm families, local officials, and agricultural leaders. These gatherings are a great way to hear directly from the source about the issues impacting our ag community.

Serving on the Ways & Means Committees gives me a direct seat at the table to work for our agricultural sector. My focus remains on delivering real policy wins for our producers, whether that means working to expand market demand for corn growers through my Biobased Materials Investment and Production Act or fighting for ag labor as a cosponsor of the Securing America's Workforce Act.

Service Academy Nominations Are Open

My office will be co-hosting an information session with Congressman Emmer's (MN-06) office for interested students and parents on September 22nd, from 6:00 - 7:30pm at the St. Cloud Library (1300 W St Germain St) to discuss service academy nominations.

Mobile Office Hours

My office will hold mobile office hours in Sauk Centre on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sauk Centre City Hall.
