Dear Friend:

Fifty years ago, Congress passed legislation that transformed our nation’s commitment to protecting life: the Hyde Amendment. This legislation ensures that federal taxpayer dollars cannot be used to perform or facilitate elective abortions.

Over the past five decades, the Hyde Amendment has proven to be one of the most effective pro-life policies in American history. It has saved more than 2.6 million lives. These individuals are alive today, pursuing their dreams, raising families, and contributing to our communities because of this amendment.

As a mother and a grandmother, I have witnessed the miracle of life at every stage, from that first ultrasound image to their first steps. Those milestones drive my work as Co-Chair of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus. My goal is to create a pro-life culture that looks at every mother and says with certainty: "You are not alone."

Building this culture requires backing our values with meaningful legislative action. In the House, I have proudly led efforts to protect women and unborn children from facilities that pressure mothers into believing abortion is their only option. This year, the House passed the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act to protect federal funding for pregnancy resource centers that provide millions of families with free care, diapers, ultrasounds, and parenting classes. I also introduced the Defund Planned Parenthood Act to permanently stop taxpayer dollars from flowing to the largest abortion provider in the country and instead focus those funds on the thousands of life-affirming Federally Qualified Health Centers and community partners across our country.

My Empowering Moms Act recently passed out of the Ways and Means Committee. This legislation codifies and expands Moms.gov, creating a centralized directory that connects expectant mothers with local health care, housing, baby supplies, and prenatal support.

On the 50th anniversary of the Hyde Amendment, I remain firmly dedicated to advancing policies that protect the unborn, defend taxpayer dollars, empower mothers, and ensure every child in America is welcomed in life and protected by law.

Sincerely,
