Dear Friend:

I've heard directly from Minnesotans about the issues that matter most to our families, farms, and communities, from fighting Medicaid fraud and protecting your hard-earned tax dollars to supporting agricultural innovation and strengthening our rural economy. Read on to learn more about what I’ve been working on.

Fighting Medicaid Fraud

You work hard for their money and deserve to know that your tax dollars are being protected. Minnesota now ranks No. 1 per capita in suspected health care fraud.

I am proud to have helped introduce the Medicaid Whistleblower Protection Act, which would protect state and local employees who report Medicaid fraud from retaliation. I also helped introduce the Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act, which would require annual fraud-risk assessments of state Medicaid programs so we can identify and address vulnerabilities before fraud occurs.

We cannot allow fraudsters to steal from hardworking Minnesota taxpayers. I will keep fighting to strengthen oversight, protect whistleblowers, and ensure every taxpayer dollar serves the people and programs it was intended to serve.

Advancing Agricultural Innovation

I had the opportunity to visit Bayer in Redwood Falls, where I toured the facility and hosted an employee town hall. It was great to hear directly from employees about the work being done to develop the seeds, crop protection products, and other tools our farmers rely on every year.

We also talked about the pressures facing farmers, the importance of strong domestic and international markets, and the need for regulatory and legislative certainty. We discussed the Farm Bill and the importance of getting a strong bill across the finish line that supports farmers and rural communities.

Supporting Southern Minnesota Farmers

Our farmers and agricultural businesses need reliable infrastructure and energy to keep their operations moving. During my visit with Farmward Cooperative in Springfield, we discussed grain handling, crop conditions, agricultural lending, and the energy infrastructure that supports agriculture across Southern Minnesota.

We also focused on the GRAIN DRY Act, which would give eligible farmers more flexibility to finance their propane storage infrastructure. Farmward leaders weighed in on the idea of a temporary diesel export ban and the use of red-dye agricultural diesel for transport trucks. These conversations are crucial to understanding where policy could be creating on-the-ground challenges, and I will keep working to strengthen rural infrastructure and ensure Minnesota farmers have reliable access to the energy they need.
