I hope this message finds you well. 

Today is day 35 of the Schumer Shutdown. 81,000 SNAP enrollees across the Treasure State have seen a disruption in their benefits. 14,000 federal workers in Montana are either furloughed or working without pay, threatening their financial security and that of their families. 

Enough is enough. It's time to stop playing partisan politics and put the health and well-being of the American people first. That's why my Republican colleagues and I have voted 15 combined times to fund the critical programs that central and eastern Montanans rely on. We stand ready to do it again at a moment's notice.

ImageThe government shutdown may be happening in Washington, but the effects are being felt right here at home. 

Nobody knows this better than our troops and federal employees working without the certainty of a guaranteed paycheck.

Last week, I visited Helena Regional Airport to deliver a little pick-me-up from 1889 Coffee House to our air traffic controllers and TSA personnel and meet with airport directors about the state of operations ahead of the holiday season.

As your representative in the United States Congress, I'm on the road all the time working to better understand the needs of our communities in central and eastern Montana.

Recently, my travels took me to Ekalaka. I started the day at Dahl Memorial Hospital where I discussed the importance of frontier medicine and the Rural Health Transformation Program.

My next stop was to Ekalaka Public Schools where I met with sixth and seventh graders for a civics lesson. Special thanks to student ambassadors Jaxen Walker and Eldon Morris for giving me a tour of school grounds! 

I finished up with a meeting with the Carter County Commissioners to get a sense of how I can best serve the county.

Fighting for Cattle Country

Whether you raise it or eat it, Montana beef is the envy of the world and a personal point of pride for our people. 
Recently, I visited Stevenson's Diamond Dot Cattle Co. in Hobson to see how some of the world’s finest black angus makes it to market. 
I’m working in Congress to make sure our ranchers have the support they need to meet demand and grow the herd for generations to come.

The government may be shut down, but my office is still open. I am extraordinarily proud to report that my team has closed 182 cases, returning over $2,624,000 to Montanans since January. We have helped to expedite passports, address issues with social security and the VA, and everything in between. 

If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, our office may be able to help resolve the problem or get you the information you need. While we cannot guarantee a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response.
