Downing Dispatch: Rural Water Wins and Celebrating Our Farmers

Welcome back to the Downing Dispatch! Keep reading to learn more about what was happening in Washington this week and some exciting news about my committee assignments.

Washington Watch

I’m proud to announce that my bill to help the Crow Tribe build critical water infrastructure has been signed into law. This legislation moves away from a one-size-fits-all approach and gives the Tribe greater flexibility to develop water and wastewater projects that meet the needs of each community using funds Congress has already set aside. I’m grateful to Senator Daines and President Trump for helping get this across the finish line.

This past week, President Trump announced plans for a new Super Range in Montana to test advanced weapons and emerging technologies, including autonomous systems, electronic warfare capabilities, and hypersonic technology.

Montana has always answered the call when our nation needs us. This new testing range gives our state another opportunity to play a major role in America’s national defense. It will strengthen military readiness and further highlight Montana’s importance to the future of American security.

I appreciate President Trump for recognizing what Montana can contribute to keeping our military strong and prepared.

Republican Rep. Troy Downing says he puts in work to serve eastern congressional district with KTVH.

"“I can work with both sides of the aisle; I just want people that are serious about policy and not just the political vitriol,” Congressman Downing said.

He says some of his proudest accomplishments the last two years have been how his office has directly helped constituents who are having issues with federal agencies.

“End of the day, I want to make sure that everybody understands that we're there to solve problems for the people of Montana’s 2nd District,” Congressman Downing said."

This week we celebrated National Farmers Day and honored the men and women who feed Montana and the world. Our farmers and ranchers work through tough weather and uncertain markets to keep food on our tables. I’m grateful for all they do and proud to keep fighting for them in Congress.

It was a great opening weekend of pheasant hunting! Now it’s back to work and back on the road across the district.

Count me in. As Montana’s State Auditor, I worked to protect seniors and consumers from scams and fraud. In Congress, I’ve continued that work by supporting efforts to recover taxpayer dollars and hold fraudsters accountable. This past week, I signed VP Vance’s Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud. Keep up the good work, White House Fraud Task Force!
