News from Congressman Chuck Edwards

Dear Friend,

I’ve seen it. I recently reviewed the FBI’s FD-1023 intake form that indicates a clear and obvious pay-to-play scheme between then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national. Image

It was not until the House Oversight and Accountability Committee on which Im honored to serve threatened to find FBI Director Chris Wray in contempt of Congress that the FBI produced this document.

The Biden family’s business schemes to enrich themselves undermine our country, our interests and the integrity of the office of the presidency.

There is no amount of Washington spin or dishonesty from the Biden press room that can shield the White House from this information.

Given the severity and complexity of the allegations contained in this record, Congress must continue to investigate.

Protecting Americans’ choices, wallets and jobs

Green New Deal policies are continuing their war on the American consumer and American energy.

To elevate their “climate activism” agenda, these extremists are proposing a total ban on gas cooking appliances.

Banning gas stoves? Seriously?

These policies clearly favor controlling not just the large aspects of Americans lives, but the little things too.

A regulation of this magnitude would burden Americans with higher electricity bills and take away their consumer choices.

Some 40 percent of American households use gas stoves, and nearly 187 million Americans use natural gas because it is affordable and reliable.

ImageI cast NC-11’s vote for the Save Our Gas Stoves Act and the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act, and will continue to block efforts to undermine American energy independence and consumer choices.

REIN-ing in the government

In addition to banning gas stoves that will take more money from Western North Carolinians’ paychecks through higher electricity bills, the government continues to target gun owners, retirees and students.

The REINS Act, which I also cast NC-11’s vote for, would help protect citizens from unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats within the federal government.

This administration has tried enacting an unlawful student loan bailout, banning gas stove sales, rewriting election laws, forcing social justice rules on Americans’ retirement accounts, and continuing its bureaucratic reign of total overreach. All these things were put forward without any congressional approval.

In fact, in his first year alone, President Biden added more than $200 billion in new regulations – almost four times more than the costs added during President Obama’s administration. Then he followed that up with $1,000,000,000,000 in new regulations which adds to the cost of goods and services that are needed by the citizens of Western North Carolina.

The REINS Act brings the federal government back down to earth and advances a commonsense reform that is long overdue.

Team Edwards visits Mills River Fire Department Image

I had the distinct pleasure to visit Mills River Fire and Rescue in Henderson County and present a flag flown in its honor over the U.S. Capitol to Chief Rick Livingston to help honor our brave first responders.

Thank you for the warm welcome, and to the many firefighters and their families at Mills River Fire and Rescue.

WNC’s baseball prowess

I’m continually amazed by the exceptional sportsmanship, athleticism and leadership found in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and the people of our mountains continue to set the bar high.

Congratulations to my alma mater, West Henderson High School, and our men’s baseball team for winning the NCHSAA 3A state championship. Go Falcons! I enjoyed the opportunity to recognize this point of community pride from the House floor.

I’d also like to congratulate T.C. Roberson High School’s men’s baseball team for itsImage 2023 NCHSAA 4A state championship win.

Congratulations to both teams. It is an honor to represent such athleticism and talent!

National Dairy Month

Happy National Dairy Month!

Western North Carolina is home to more than a dozen independent dairy farmers and even more commercial operations. Image

This June, enjoy a scoop of ice cream and raise a spoon (or ice cream cone) to celebrate our hardworking dairy farmers and happy cows!

Applications for service academies are now open!
I’m honored to have a role in helping outstanding students from Western North Carolina advance their academic and professional careers through the service academy nomination process.

If accepted, these exemplary students will play a role in defending America as they rise through the ranks of our military.

I look forward to nominating more of our best and brightest to these academies for the class of 2028.

More information on deadlines and how to apply can be found on my website: edwards.house.gov/services/military-academy-nominations

Upcoming Carolina Cruiser visits
