April 25, 2025
Friends,
This week, I traveled across our state – from Groveton to Nashua – meeting with Granite Staters and discussing my work bringing your voices and priorities to Congress. I’d like to spend this week’s newsletter telling you about the people I met and the issues we talked about, from protecting Medicaid to fighting for public education and addressing our child care crisis.
For real-time updates on my work fighting for the Granite State, I hope you’ll consider following me on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Twitter, and YouTube. In the meantime, here’s a recap of some of the latest developments from this week.

FIGHTING FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION
I will always fight to defend public education.
Public education is the lifeblood and ultimate safeguard of American democracy.
I filed an amicus brief challenging the Trump Administration’s efforts to close the Department of Education in the matter of the State of New York v. Linda McMahon.
Learn more about this amicus brief in defense of public education here.
Teaching is the ultimate act of optimism. So is learning. That’s why this week, I visited public schools and met with teachers across New Hampshire to talk about the importance of protecting public education and to see firsthand the impact our schools are having on young Granite Staters.
A strong public education sets our students up for successful, fulfilling careers.
On Tuesday, I spent the morning at ConVal High School in Peterborough, where I sat with teachers and students at their extraordinary Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center, and saw firsthand the amazing work of our students who are our future in New Hampshire.
I will always fight for New Hampshire’s public schools and CTE centers.

Thank you to the students and faculty at Plymouth State who took the time to meet with me this week.
On Wednesday at Plymouth State University, I spoke with students and staff about the federal funding that makes the work of New Hampshire’s public universities, including PSU, possible.
There is no higher purpose for federal funding than to educate the next generation, and I will always fight to protect the federal dollars that New Hampshire was promised.
I will always stand up and fight for New Hampshire’s public school teachers.
Public education would not be possible without our incredible public school teachers here in New Hampshire.
On Wednesday, I sat down with NEA-New Hampshire to talk about how we can work together to stand up against the Trump Administration’s lawless attacks on public education and protect the federal dollars that Granite State schools rely on.

ADDRESSING THE CHILD CARE CRISIS
 |
Our kids are our future, and we must ensure they have the care they need to grow, learn, and thrive. |
I hear about the cost of child care everywhere I go — families can’t find the care they need, and when they can, they can’t afford it.
This week, I had an important conversation with providers, parents, and advocates at Merrimack Valley Day Care Services on how we can fix this broken system and deliver for Granite Staters.
 |
I will always fight to deliver for New Hampshire families and build an economy that works for you. |
The child care crisis is a failure of government, and it is coming to a head at a time when Granite Staters are already facing sky-high costs on everything from groceries to energy to housing. We can and must do better – and that’s what I’m working towards.

ADVOCATING FOR OUR FARMERS AND FORESTERS
 |
In Congress, I am fighting with everything I’ve got to deliver for our farmers. |
This week in Groveton, I heard from farmers and foresters from all across the North Country about the challenges they’re facing and the opportunities that lie ahead. The President’s trade wars are causing real pain in New Hampshire right now.
Farmers, foresters, and small businesses are being driven out of business by the high costs of arbitrary, ad hoc, and uncertain tariffs. The government should be supporting our farmers and foresters, not putting them out of business.
Farm Free or Die.

PROTECTING THE PROGRAMS YOU RELY ON
Medicaid is a promise that we make to one another, and I will never stop fighting to ensure we live up to that promise.
Everywhere I go, I hear from Granite Staters about the vital role that Medicaid plays in their lives. From families seeking care for chronic illnesses, to doctors and nurses like those at Monadnock Community Hospital, keeping our communities healthy.
I had a productive and powerful conversation with providers and patients at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough about the devastating impact that cuts to Medicaid would have on the families they serve. Proud to represent their voices in the fight to protect Medicaid.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with me this week and share what matters most to them.
On Thursday, I met with the incredible community at the Tri-County Community Action Program and saw firsthand the wide range of programs that they offer to Granite Staters of all ages.
From meals for seniors to child development for our youngest generation to housing stability, economic supports, and so much more, grateful to have such wonderful partners for this important work in Coos, Carroll, and Grafton.

SUPPORTING NEW HAMPSHIRE'S VETERANS
I am proud to bring the voices and priorities of New Hampshire’s veterans to Congress.
We owe a sacred obligation to our nation’s veterans and servicemembers — an obligation that Easterseals New Hampshire and Swim With A Mission are helping us meet right here in New Hampshire.
This week, I toured the Easterseals NH Military & Veterans Campus in Franklin, which will be a game-changer for New Hampshire’s servicemembers and veterans. Proud to support this critical mission.

HOLDING THE PENTAGON ACCOUNTABLE
Secretary Hegseth has shown a complete disregard for the safety of our service members and the integrity of our military.
You may have read in the news this week that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth again shared military plans in an unsecured Signal group chat, this time with his wife and his brother. As I’ve said from the beginning: Pete Hegseth never should have been nominated or confirmed to serve as Secretary of Defense.
Hegseth is making our country and our troops less safe every day. He should have resigned weeks ago. This latest revelation is yet another violation of the sacred oath he swore to our country and our military and a dangerous breach of the trust of the men and women who serve our country in uniform.
I led a group of my colleagues in demanding answers from Secretary Pete Hegseth on the chaos at the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the turmoil that is threatening our national security.
Learn more about my letter demanding answers from Secretary Hegseth here.

STRENGTHENING NATIONAL SECURITY, RIGHT HERE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE
America’s national security is forged right here in New Hampshire.
Our military supply chains are critical to our national security.
New Hampshire small businesses, including the veteran-owned Soldier Systems D-MIL in Gilsum and Environmental Alternatives, Inc. in Swanzey, that I met with this week, are critical to the future of our military supply chains.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Small Business, I’m proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Granite State companies to protect our national security.

THE COST OF PRESIDENT TRUMP'S TRADE WAR
I am fighting to lower costs on the basic goods you need.
Granite Staters are already facing sky-high prices – the last thing you need is to be worried about tariffs raising costs on your car repairs, grocery receipts, or energy bills.
I had a great visit and productive conversations this week at Sanel NAPA Auto Parts in Concord about the impact that a global trade war will have on our economy and your wallet.

FIGHTING FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE'S MUSEUMS AND LIBRARIES
Our museums and libraries are a core part of who we are as a country – we must protect them.
New Hampshire is home to some of our nation’s greatest history and dedicated institutions that help us preserve it.
This week, I visited Canterbury Shaker Village, a National Historic Landmark, and heard about how the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) funding makes their mission possible. Proud to help lead the fight to protect IMLS and the important role it plays for museums across New Hampshire.
Read my letter to President Trump demanding that he protect IMLS funding here.
