May 11, 2025
Friends,
First things first: Happy Mother’s Day! Today, I’m celebrating all the mammas out there, including my mom, Betty. I was born on Election Day in 1986. When my mom went into labor, she went directly to vote at our polling place (Broad Street Elementary School in Nashua) before she went to the hospital where I was born (St. Joe’s). That is the spirit that my mom instilled in me from day one on Earth. And that’s the spirit that I’m working to bring every day in the People’s House to deliver for you and the state we love.

To the left you see my mom Betty (center) in 1988 together with my sister Christina (bottom right) and me (bottom left in Nashua). To the right, my mom Betty (center) in January 2025 with me (left) and Judge Joe Laplante (right) as I took the oath of office to serve as your Congresswoman in the People’s House.
For real-time updates on my work fighting for the Granite State, I hope you’ll consider following me on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Twitter, and YouTube. In the meantime, here’s a recap of some of the latest developments from this week.

HONORING A TRUE AMERICAN HERO
Justice Souter graced us all with his extraordinary presence as I took the oath of office in January 2025 to serve as your Congresswoman.
Justice David Souter was and always will be a true American hero. He was a humble man with a granite backbone who always put our country and our Constitution first. His commitment to common sense was at the heart of his truly uncommon brilliance. And boy did he love New Hampshire — our history, our poets, our mountains and lakes, and, above all, our people.
Justice Souter understood that every ruling of the United States Supreme Court would change the lives of real people in some meaningful way. That is why he approached his work with a simple and powerful commitment to, as he once put it, “use every power of our minds and our hearts and our beings to get those rulings right.”
Justice Souter’s memory will forever be a blessing to me as I work every day to bring every power of my mind, heart, and being to do good for our state and our country.

PROTECTING LIFE-SAVING PROGRAMS AND LOWERING COSTS
On this Mother’s Day, my thoughts and prayers are with all women as we fight for our basic freedoms – freedom to access basic healthcare and freedom over our own bodies. For 55 years, Title X has been a lifeline for Granite State women.
Turning off this funding stream and taking dollars away that were promised to New Hampshire will do nothing but jack up costs and hurt hardworking families.
Despite these real and pressing attacks on our basic freedoms, this week, House Republicans decided to prioritize legislation that would rename a body of water (the Gulf of Mexico) and would spend your hard-earned taxpayer dollars to do so.
I’m focused on delivering progress on what matters most: lowering costs, protecting our freedoms and democracy, and ensuring everyone gets a fair deal.
Let me be clear: I’m a hard no on spending a penny of your taxpayer dollars to rename a body of water at a moment when President Trump’s corrupt trade wars are jacking up costs for you and your family and House Republicans are putting your healthcare on the chopping block to pay for another big tax break for billionaires and big corporations.
Your voice and your story are critical to holding the Trump Administration and congressional Republicans accountable — please share how you have been impacted by this administration’s actions here.
I will always stand up and speak out to protect the programs you and your family rely on.
Protecting Medicaid and SNAP is a matter of life or death for tens of thousands of people across New Hampshire. That’s why I’m proud to help lead the Hands Off Medicaid and SNAP Act, legislation to block the extreme and unprecedented cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid in the Republican budget.
It’s also why I signed a discharge petition – a procedural tool to expedite a vote in the House of Representatives – to force an up-or-down vote on this legislation to protect Medicaid and food assistance from devastating budget cuts.
This cannot wait.
Learn more about this legislation and my work to protect Medicaid and SNAP here.

In Congress, I am fighting with everything I’ve got to protect the programs you and your family rely on.
The Trump Administration’s proposal to gut LIHEAP in its 2026 budget is downright dangerous. Tens of thousands of families across New Hampshire rely on this critical program for energy assistance. Slashing it when hardworking Granite Staters are already facing sky-high energy costs will hurt those most in need.
I will never stop standing up and fighting back to protect the programs you and your family rely on. |
CELEBRATING OUR NEWEST FELLOW AMERICANS
Our state and our country are made stronger by the immigrants who choose to call America home.
This week, I was honored to congratulate our newest fellow Americans in Concord. Watch my remarks from the ceremony here.

LEADING LEGISLATION TO STRENGTHEN YOUR AIR SAFETY
Thank you to the dedicated Granite Staters who keep our airways safe and secure.
We put our faith in America’s air traffic controllers to keep us safe and protect our nation’s airways. They need and deserve our support.
That’s why I’m proud to help lead the Air Traffic Control Workforce Development Act of 2025. This commonsense legislation will help us recruit and retain the next generation of air traffic controllers, improve working conditions, and equip our aviation workforce with the tools they need to fulfill their truly difficult and absolutely critical mission. |
OUR FREEDOM DEPENDS UPON A FREE PRESS
Our freedom depends upon a free press. For more than sixty years, Congress has, on a bipartisan basis, supported public broadcasting by investing in the operations of more than 1,500 locally managed and operated public television and radio stations across America.
In New Hampshire, NHPR and NH PBS are critical pillars of our democracy and way of life. Their journalists deliver local news independently without fear or favor. Their programming helps ensure our kids are successful in school and keeps our most rural communities engaged and informed, including in times of emergency.
That’s why President Trump’s attacks on public broadcasting are not only chilling, they’re unlawful. In Congress, I’m fighting for public media. |
HEARING DIRECTLY FROM YOU
I can do my job best when I hear directly from you about what matters most. Below are some of the meetings I had this week with hardworking Granite Staters. Want to schedule a meeting with our team? Reach out on our website here or call 603-226-1002.
I am working with local, state, and congressional partners to lower the cost of housing for you and your family.
CATCH Neighborhood Housing is helping make a cornerstone of the American dream — having a home — a reality for hardworking people across New Hampshire. I am proud to be working with such an innovative and dedicated partner to deliver on this critical issue.

I am proud to partner with local leaders to address the issues that matter most.
New Hampshire’s nine Regional Planning Commissions are critical partners in our work to expand access to housing, economic opportunity, and safe, reliable transportation to ensure our communities have the resources they need to thrive. It was great to be with these leaders from across our state this week to discuss how we can work together to deliver for Granite Staters.
It was an honor to host the New England Farmers Union in our Washington, D.C., office.
Farmers are facing unprecedented challenges across our state and our country. As the great-granddaughter of New Hampshire family farmers, I’m proud to be working with Roger Noonan of New Boston and the New England Farmers Union to pass a strong Farm Bill that will deliver the tools our farmers need to do the essential work they do for our communities.
Across the country and right here in New Hampshire, we lose far too many loved ones to breast cancer every year.
This week, I had a productive and important conversation with the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition about how we can work together to support Granite Staters with breast cancer and improve access to quality, life-saving care.
I recently signed a letter demanding that the Department of Defense fully fund the Peer Reviewed Breast Cancer Research Program. I will continue urging my colleagues to join me in supporting this vital cause. |
FIGHTING FOR OUR VETERANS AND SERVICEMEMBERS
We owe a debt of gratitude to the brave women and men who serve in our Armed Forces that can never be repaid. During Military Appreciation Month, I hope you’ll join me in honoring the contributions and sacrifices of our active-duty servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
It’s the honor of my life to bring the voices of New Hampshire veterans to Congress.
This week, a bombshell report from ProPublica revealed how President Trump's indiscriminate attacks on the VA are causing real harm to veterans here in New Hampshire and across the country.
Ending life-saving clinical trials. Threatening access to chemotherapy treatments. The impact is real, and it is unacceptable. That’s why I will never stop standing up and fighting against these devastating cuts.
Your voice and your story are critical to this fight — please share how you have been impacted by this administration’s actions here.

I urge my colleagues in the Senate to immediately pass this legislation to support our airmen.
We owe a debt of gratitude to the women and men who serve our country in uniform. That includes fully understanding the health risks our aviators face while protecting our country. This week, the House of Representatives passed the ACES Act, bipartisan legislation I helped lead to lower military aviation cancer rates.
The ACES Act would improve our understanding of the link between military service and cancer risks among veteran aviators. By better understanding the correlation between aviator service and cancer, we can better assist our military and provide more adequate care for our veterans.
Learn more about the bipartisan ACES Act here.

I am proud to lead legislation to improve the lives of veterans across New Hampshire.
We have a sacred obligation to ensure that our veterans have the support they need to thrive and enjoy the freedoms they fought for while serving our country in uniform.
This week, my bipartisan legislation, the ASSIST Act, passed out of the Veterans Affairs Committee, a critical hurdle towards becoming law. The ASSIST Act is common-sense legislation that will cut the red tape that has prevented veterans from getting the equipment they need to travel safely by giving the VA greater flexibility to offer financial assistance for necessary adaptations.
Learn more about the bipartisan ASSIST Act here.
The spirit of service is strong here in New Hampshire.
This weekend, I loved spending the morning with young Granite Staters who are exploring the many paths to serving our country.
Are you or someone you know interested in attending one of our nation’s military service academies? Please call our office at 603-226-1002 to learn more about the process and to speak to a member of our team, or visit our website. |

I want to end this week’s newsletter by thanking our Granite State teachers and nurses.
Education is an essential guardrail for our democracy, and teaching is the ultimate act of optimism. Especially today. During Teacher Appreciation Week, I hope you join me in thanking teachers across New Hampshire who are educating the next generation of leaders.
During National Nurses Week, I hope you’ll join me in thanking the dedicated nurses and healthcare workers who keep our families and communities healthy. Whether it’s fighting to protect Medicaid or expanding access to support and resources, I am proud to bring the voices of New Hampshire’s nurses to Congress.
Thank you for reading our newsletter, and happy Mother’s Day!
