June 2, 2025

Friends,

It was another busy week last week — I wanted to give you an update below.

For real-time updates on my work fighting for you, I hope you’ll follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Twitter, and YouTube.

HONORING AND DELIVERING FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE’S VETERANS

I want to start this week’s newsletter by reflecting on Memorial Day and honoring the incredible sacrifices our service members, veterans, and their families make for our state and our country every day.

America is the land of the free because of the brave men and women who gave their lives in service of the American people, past, present, and future.

ImageOur fallen American heroes will never be forgotten.

Last week, I was honored to be with fellow citizens — veterans, military families, servicemembers —  from across New Hampshire on the hallowed ground of our State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen to honor truly honorable Americans: our fallen heroes.

The memory of every fallen American hero is our blessing. I’ll never stop working to be worthy of their memory and to fulfill a sacred obligation that unites us as Americans: to care for and support in every way that we can every veteran, every servicemember, and every military family.

ImageI was humbled to stand with New Hampshire veterans, service members, and military families at the Manchester VA Medical Center on Memorial Day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

I really believe that we are what we remember — as individuals and as a nation.

ImageIn Concord on Memorial Day, I saw firsthand that our sense of service here in New Hampshire is strong, from our youngest neighbors to our oldest.

On Memorial Day, it was an honor to be with hundreds of fellow Granite Staters at events across New Hampshire, from Concord to Manchester to Hudson, to remember the brave women and men who loved our country and served it well and faithfully in uniform.

ImageWatch my remarks from the Hudson Memorial Day ceremony here.

We owe these patriots and their loved ones a debt of gratitude that we can never fully repay.

We have a sacred obligation to ensure that our veterans have the support they need to thrive and enjoy the freedoms they fought for while serving our country in uniform. Last week, I spent time at the White River Junction VA Medical Center, which serves thousands of veterans across New Hampshire.

To all of New Hampshire’s brave veterans, service members, and their families, thank you.

During the visit, I met with a wide range of VA providers and VA employees at the medical center, including members of AFGE Local 2604, and heard directly about the impacts of pending and potential federal funding cuts and contract cancellations on the critical care they provide to our veterans.

ImageI’m proud to bring the voices of New Hampshire’s unions to Congress.

I am proud to be fighting for the resources our veterans need in Congress and on the House Armed Services Committee. Learn more about my work to deliver for our veterans here

We must never forget the sacrifice of the veterans who came before us. I visited a powerful exhibit at the New Hampshire State House honoring 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War with my fellow Navy veteran, Gary Gordon.

Gary is one of the thousands of disabled veterans who would benefit from legislation I am proud to lead called the ASSIST Act, a common-sense bill that will cut the needless red tape that has prevented veterans from getting the medically necessary equipment they need to travel safely. He’s why I will never give up this fight.

ImageI’m fighting to get the ASSIST Act over the finish line for veterans like Gary.

Learn more about the ASSIST Act here.

DEFENDING THE HEALTHCARE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY RELY ON

Let’s be clear: The pain caused by the big and truly devastating GOP budget bill that was jammed through the U.S. House in the dead of night by just one vote is not hypothetical. That’s why I was a hard no.

In Nashua and in Lebanon, I convened our local partners and stakeholders to hear what GOP cuts to healthcare — the biggest in history — would mean for the people of New Hampshire, including Granite Staters with disabilities.

ImageMedicaid is a lifeline for thousands of Granite Staters, and I will not stand by while Republicans gut this essential program.

In Nashua, we discussed what GOP cuts to Medicaid would mean for the people of New Hampshire and the Nashua Center. In a word: Devastating. These cruel and shameful cuts would be devastating.

ImageThankful to have such dedicated local partners in the fight to protect Medicaid, Medicare, and the programs you and your family rely on.

In Lebanon, I spoke with partners from the NH Department of Health and Human Services and providers from Dartmouth Health who are on the frontlines of delivering life-saving healthcare, including maternal healthcare and substance use treatment. I heard in detail about the real harm that GOP healthcare cuts will have on people across New Hampshire.

I’ve never been more determined to fight back to protect the programs you and your family rely on. This week, the fight continues in the United States Senate, and we need to hear your voices. If you have been impacted by – or are concerned you may have been impacted by GOP cuts to critical services and programs, please share your story here

FIGHTING FOR EVERY PENNY PROMISED TO NEW HAMPSHIRE'S STUDENTS

ImageTRIO Programs help students from low-income backgrounds, who would be the first person in their families to earn a college degree, with disabilities, and others, attend college.

TRIO Programs are a cornerstone of our nation’s commitment to educational access and upward mobility, especially for students here in New Hampshire. But the Trump Administration froze critical funding for these programs that was promised to New Hampshire, putting students and families across our state in jeopardy.

That’s why I was proud to lead the New Hampshire delegation in demanding that Education Secretary Linda McMahon and Office of Management and Budget Director Vought deliver the federal funding New Hampshire students were promised.

ImageOur voices matter. Watch my full reaction to TRIO funding for June 1 coming through here

Following our advocacy, the U.S. Department of Education has reinstated mission-critical funding that was promised to students across New Hampshire for some of the best educational programs in America (brought to us by TRIO!).

This fight continues.

Read the letter and learn more about my work to deliver the federal funding that New Hampshire students were promised here.

STANDING UP FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE'S NORTH COUNTRY

Last week, I was in the North Country and met with incredible leaders who define the spirit of New Hampshire.

ImageThe North Country will always have a partner and advocate in me.

Thank you to Coos County Commissioner Ray Gorman for bringing together a group of extraordinary people in Stewartstown, including Northern Borders Dispatch and 45th Parallel Emergency Medical Services. They have some of the truly toughest and most important jobs in America, and I’m fighting in Congress for every tool and dollar they need to keep our communities safe.

I am also grateful for my discussion with Ray Gorman, Tim Stevens, Sue Collins, and Greg Placy about how we can work together to lower costs and ensure that Colebrook has what every town in New Hampshire needs: a viable source of clean water for the next 100 years.

ImageOur northernmost communities carry the spirit of New Hampshire.

At Mohawk Falls in Colebrook, I was proud to be in a pavilion full of people who are making things happen in the North Country, seeing opportunities in challenges, and never giving up.

Thank you to Hannah Campbell, Butch Ladd, and the North Country Chamber of Commerce for a great evening. I’m proud to be fighting for the North Country in Congress.

ADVOCATING FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE'S FORESTS AND FOREST SERVICE EMPLOYEES

New Hampshire’s forests are essential to our way of life. They are a vital source of clean water, thousands of good jobs, billions of dollars for our state’s economy, world-class recreation, and some of the most extraordinary wildlife on the planet.

That’s why I was proud to introduce the Forest Conservation Easement Program Act of 2025, bipartisan legislation to conserve working forests and give landowners more options to ensure their land is protected. Read more about my legislation here

ImageWe must never take New Hampshire’s forests or the people who protect them for granted.

Last week in Campton, I met with dedicated public servants from the United States Forest Service whose mission-critical work helps to keep our White Mountain National Forest a national treasure.

ImageWatch my full reflection on our visit here.

And last week in North Woodstock, I visited the extraordinary Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in the heart of White Mountain National Forest, where dedicated public servants have come together with community organizations, non-profits, and industry leaders to do some of the most important research we could ask for.

What’s happening in the North Country and across our White Mountain National Forest is so important for the future of our state. And it is core to who we are as Granite Staters. I will continue doing everything I can to protect and strengthen the work of our Forest Service and experimental forests here in New Hampshire.

FIGHTING FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE'S SMALL BUSINESSES

ImageProud to bring the voices of New Hampshire small businesses to Congress.

Outdoor recreation and adventure run in our blood here in New Hampshire, and small businesses like Omer and Bob's help people from across our state and around the world enjoy all that New Hampshire has to offer. But they are not immune to President Trump’s reckless and chaotic trade wars.

From arbitrary tariff fees mandated by bigger companies to the uncertainty of the supply chains and higher costs, I will always fight to protect our small businesses and ensure they have the stability and support to thrive.

ImageNew Hampshire is the proud home of innovators and problem solvers.

New Hampshire is truly leading America and the world in innovation, including regenerative medicine, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing. ReGen Valley is at the heart of it all.

It was inspiring to spend time in the heart of ReGen Valley with Dean Kamen, ARMI, and partners from across our state to talk about how we can work together to have the future that we want by building and inventing more of what we need right here in New Hampshire.

ImageNew Hampshire’s small businesses drive our economy, and I am proud to support them.

Another New Hampshire small business leading the world in innovation is GEOKON, a Lebanon-based manufacturer of sensors that are mission-critical in civil and structural engineering projects across America and all around the world.

Last week, I had an impactful conversation with the people behind this 100% employee-owned NH manufacturer. One key takeaway: the future of manufacturing in our state depends on making housing and childcare affordable and accessible. That’s what I’m fighting to do in Congress.

Image

I will always advocate for New Hampshire’s small businesses.

New Hampshire is a land of opportunity for small businesses like the women-owned Leorah Medspa and Threading, which celebrated its grand opening last week in Nashua. I am proud to fight for New Hampshire’s small businesses on the House Committee on Small Business.
