FIGHTING FOR YOUR HEALTHCARE
In the seven months since I took the oath of office, I have traveled across our state to meet with patients and providers at our Community Health Centers.
A Community Health Center (CHC) is a non-profit, patient-led, and community-driven healthcare provider that cares for communities who may not have access to healthcare otherwise. From dental care to mental health and substance use treatment, CHCs meet our communities where they are to provide the healthcare they need.
In these conversations, two words are always used to describe the GOP’s Big, Brutal Budget: devastating and catastrophic. The impacts will be felt deeply by our Community Health Centers.

In January in Berlin, I met with health care providers from across the North Country.

Met with extraordinary providers and advocates at Harbor Care in Nashua in February.

This National Health Center Week, we must recommit to protecting our healthcare system now more than ever.
This week, during National Community Health Center Week, I visited Mid-State Health Center in Plymouth, with Bi-State Primary Care Association and Harbor Care, to discuss the real pain this bill is causing real people.
I will not rest in my work for and alongside New Hampshire’s extraordinary community health centers to deliver better care to and lower costs for hardworking people.

“Upper Valley health care providers are warning that changes to Medicaid at the state and federal levels will likely increase the uninsured population in New Hampshire and shift the cost of care to more expensive venues,” read more from the Valley News here.
One of the things I’m most concerned about with the GOP’s cuts to healthcare is the pressure it’s putting on hospitals and critical providers being forced to close their doors due to cuts in funding.

Our rural hospitals are already operating on the slimmest of margins.
When I was in Canaan earlier this week, I had important discussions about the closure of Canaan Mascoma Community Health. Medicaid reimbursement issues, federal funding changes, high operating costs, and low patient volumes were among the reasons why the Center has decided to end its services.
The impacts of the GOP’s cuts to Medicaid are not hypothetical. They are real for real people right here in New Hampshire, including the patients who received care at the Mascoma Community Health Center.

Impactful visit with St. Joseph’s Hospital staff to discuss the effect of the 'Big Beautiful Bill' on their operations and patient care.
I also visited St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua. It was really special to be back at the hospital where I was born to meet with the incredible healthcare providers there.

Important discussion at St. Joseph’s Hospital on the impact of the GOP healthcare cuts.
As we heard again during our visit, these cuts put unbelievable pressure on hospitals, and many will risk having to close their doors. I’m working with everything I’ve got to protect the healthcare you and your family rely on.

If you’re sick, you and your doctor should be the ones making the decisions about how to get you better — not big corporate monopolists looking to make a buck by denying you the healthcare you need. But, that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is trying to force on Medicare patients across New Hampshire.
That’s not right, and I’m fighting back.

I’m pressing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to reject any efforts to add red tape that results in denials of your healthcare. |
