Dear Neighbor,
This week we got new nonpartisan data laying out the damage that Republican's billionaire bailout bill will do to working families across the country; we saw Republicans take steps to rig the midterm elections because they know their policies are unpopular; Trump took over the D.C. police to address a crime wave that doesn't exist; and then he went to Alaska to meet with murderous dictator Vladimir Putin.

Shocker: Big Billionaire Bailout Bill will benefit the richest and hurt working families On Monday, the Congressional Budget Office (the nonpartisan analysts that measure the impact of legislation) gave an updated assessment of the Republican’s recently passed “Big Beautiful Bill Act” and it was not pretty.
They found that “the top 10 % of earners in the country will see an average boost of $13,600 per year over the next decade,... while the bottom 10 % will see an average annual decrease of $1,200.”
Congressional Republicans tried to sell this unpopular bill as assistance to working and middle-class families, but as I warned, it was nothing more than a “big billionaire bailout.” In the end, this bill will be one of the biggest cash grabs from the poor and giveaways to the rich.
Republican Assault on Voters Last month, Trump called up Texas Governor Greg Abbott and told him to rig the midterm elections. Trump and Republicans know that their agenda is unpopular. Trump’s approval rating is at a record low. Their signature legislation, which will strip health insurance from 16 million Americans over the next 10 years, is deeply unpopular.
In response, Texas State Democrats left the state, denying the Republican-controlled legislature the necessary attendance to conduct legislative business, effectively blocking the move to redraw Texas’ congressional maps.
And just yesterday, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced his plan to put a question on the 2025 ballot, which would allow the state’s redistricting commission to respond in-kind to Republican attempts to rig the game. Governor Newsom made clear that this will only move forward if any Republican state tries to rig the race.
Federal Takeover of Washington, D.C. This week Donald Trump deployed federal officers to Washington, D.C. arguing that high crime forced his hand. This is of course nonsense; crime in Washington is at a 30 year low.
These actions are a gross abuse of power, waste of taxpayer dollars, and a completely unacceptable, corrupt misuse of law enforcement. It is authoritarian, and more than that it is an incompetent attempt to exercise control.
All of it is meant to distract us from his failure as a president - this man only serves his own ego. If he can get away with it in Washington, D.C. your town may be next.

Trump-Putin Meeting
Earlier today, Trump met Putin in Alaska, the first time Putin has set foot on US soil since 2015. Not only did Trump invite the murderous Russian dictator to the United States — itself a win for Putin — but he rolled out an actual red carpet for him.
We should be clear: Putin is a war criminal. He is our adversary. He is responsible for the deaths of countless civilians. He is author of numerous atrocities. He is not someone the American president should be glad-handing on US soil.
The Trump Administration must release a thorough readout of their meeting so we can be confident that Trump is working in America's interests, not his own.
