Dear Friends-

Supporting Workforce Development

I recently visited with leaders from the Workforce Council of Southwest Ohio to discuss workforce development programming. The Council plays a pivotal role in delivering training to our fellow Ohioans and connecting businesses to prospective employees through networking and resource allocation.

Workforce development is essential for a thriving economy. A community lacking a sufficiently skilled and properly educated workforce prevents both individuals and industry from flourishing. Historically, the strong work ethic here in Ohio helped our economy flourish. To restore excellence, we need to hone skills and focus our education.

Organizations like the Workforce Council of Southwest Ohio contribute vastly to our effort to revitalize our economy. It was an honor to meet with them and learn about all they do to serve businesses, job seekers, and the entire region of Southwest Ohio.

Helping Disabled and Elderly Homeowners

While spending time back home, I visited People Working Cooperatively (PWC). PWC is the region’s leader in providing professional home repairs and services for low-income elderly and disabled homeowners.

PWC proudly provides more than 8,000 services for eligible homeowners each year. These individuals often face challenges due to illness, disability, job loss, or other circumstances, so the services provided by PWC are instrumental in allowing many of these individuals to live comfortably.

PWC is in its 50th year of providing critical home repairs, energy conservation, and accessibility modification services to help residents remain independent and healthy in their homes. I am incredibly proud of PWC for its contributions to our community and am immensely grateful for the time I spent with them.

Meeting with Christian Leaders from Fairfield

Last week, I had the privilege of attending a pastors’ forum at Fairfield West Baptist Church where I heard from local pastors regarding concerns from their congregations and parishes.

I also spoke with the pastors to update them on events and legislative objectives in Washington, D.C. We discussed President Trump’s efforts to thwart illegal immigration, the funding freeze for federal grants, and the upcoming reconciliation bill, among other topics.

I greatly appreciated fellowship with fellow Christian leaders from our region. I’m thankful for their prayers and all they do for our communities.

Showcasing Artwork of Talented Students Across the 8th District

This past week concluded the 2025 Congressional Art Competition’s inaugural Constituent Choice Competition! I was excited to introduce a new category this year, allowing constituents of Ohio’s 8th District to vote for their favorite submission.

After nearly 200 votes were cast for the Constituent Choice Award, please join me in congratulating Addison Brueshaber from Lakota West High School on winning first place! Her painting, included below, was entitled “Mom: Your #1 Fan.”

I would like to thank all of those who submitted artwork as well as all of those who voted in our inaugural Constituent Choice Competition. Art is an excellent way for individuals to express themselves, which makes this such an exciting time of year for me and my staff as we put this competition together.

I’m always impressed by the abundance of artistic talent coming out of Ohio’s 8th District and can’t wait for next year’s competition!
