News from Congresswoman Andrea Salinas

Dear Neighbor,

Veterans Day is an important opportunity to show gratitude to America's heroes and their families.

As the daughter of a veteran myself, I am committed to doing just that—which is why I was so honored to spend time with our veterans over the weekend and thank them for their service.

On Saturday, I joined the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs, servicemembers and their families, and members of the community for a Veterans Day Ceremony at the Oregon State Capitol.

I also had the privilege of meeting with one of my constituents and the spouse of a veteran.

When Shirley was having trouble with her benefits and couldn't get through to the VA, she called my office. In just three weeks, my team was able to restart her benefits and secure retroactive payments for the months she missed.

I enjoyed meeting Shirley in person and sharing my commitment to helping our veterans and their families.

I am eternally grateful for the sacrifices of those who have bravely served our country in uniform. But I also know that gratitude alone isn’t enough.

That is why I am doing everything in my power to ensure the federal government's commitments to veterans are being honored. Since coming to Congress, I have proudly supported bills that would expand veterans' access to affordable housing and health care, improve home care services for elderly veterans, help more veterans afford college by expanding work study programs, address veteran homelessness, and more.

To our veterans: I will keep fighting to ensure you get the resources and support you have earned and deserve. And I will always have your back.

Be well,
