Dear Friend,
Last Thursday, I was honored to attend the State of the Union address with my guest, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Salem resident Rosy Macias.
Rosy has been advocating for veterans in the Salem area, with a focus on preventing veteran homelessness, for over 20 years. She has been a board member of Serving Our Veterans at Home (SOVAH), a local nonprofit that provides health care, housing, employment, and other critical services for veterans and their families, since 2009. Rosy also serves as Vice President of the Women Marines Association – Portland Chapter, Women Veterans Chairperson for VFW Post 661, Veterans Engagement Director of Team Red White and Blue – Salem Chapter, and as a member of the Marion Polk YMCA Board of Directors and Courtney Place Veterans Housing Board.
Before we headed to the Capitol to hear the President speak, I was able to sit down with her to discuss her work and how Congress can better support those who have served our nation in uniform.

As the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran, I was proud to have Rosy by my side as we heard from the President about his policy goals. And as always, I will keep fighting to ensure that helping our veterans remains a top priority.
From delivering better health care and benefits to expanding access to affordable housing and education, you can count on me to put our heroes first.
