News from Congresswoman Andrea Salinas

Dear Friend,

On July 20th, 1969, the first humans set foot on the moon. Now, 55 years later, I’m introducing a new resolution to establish “National Moon Day” in honor of that important achievement!

The Apollo 11 moon landing inspired generations of Americans to pursue careers in STEM, boosting our economy and cementing our nation’s position as a pioneer in spaceflight.

As a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I am proud to introduce this resolution celebrating that critical moment in history and America’s ongoing commitment to space exploration.

My resolution also highlights the importance of NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon by 2025 and establish a sustainable human presence there by the end of the decade, with the ultimate goal of leading the first human expedition to Mars.

It is my hope that, one day soon, we will return to the moon and build on the legacy of those first brave astronauts.

Be well,
