Dear Friend,
July has come and gone in the blink of an eye! It feels like only yesterday when we were celebrating our Nation’s Independence.
Here’s a snapshot of a few things I have been working on over the past month.

As you may know, I am visiting every county in our district as part of my “Life After Measure 110” Listening Tour. This month alone, I met with officials in Polk, Marion, and Washington counties.
I see this Listening Tour as an opportunity to build on the initiatives I’ve worked on at the federal level and gain important insights from our police, local governments, and members of the recovery community about how we can move forward in a post-Measure 110 world.
I’m working hard to stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities and provide law enforcement with the tools they need to keep us safe, while also expanding access to treatment and recovery services. I have already gained some important insights through these conversations, and I look forward to bringing those ideas with me to the policymaking table.

I also joined Family Forward for an important roundtable on child care — a topic that impacts many of us and our loved ones. I heard directly from working parents and child care providers about the rising cost of child care and lack of options.
As a working mom myself, I know how important it is to have access to child care that meets your budget and schedule. Not only does this issue impact parents – it also echoes through our communities, affecting our economy and the well-being of future generations. Affordable, safe, and high-quality child care has always been a top priority of mine and I will keep fighting to ensure every Oregonian can find affordable, accessible child care.
During my time in DC, I met with several local officials from the Sixth District, including Beaverton Mayor Lacey Beaty and Judge Juliet Britton. We discussed everything from access to affordable housing and the need for increased mental health services. I’ll continue to partner with local leaders to ensure you and your neighbors can get the quality services and resources you deserve.
