News from Congresswoman Andrea Salinas

Dear Friend,

August has come and gone, and it sure was another busy month of working for you and your families.

Here’s a quick recap as we say goodbye to summer and hello to fall!

I hosted several important visitors in our district this month, from my colleagues in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to the head of the Small Business Administration. During each visit, we had critical conversations about the issues that really matter to Oregon families—from bringing down costs to creating more good-paying jobs in our region.

First, I joined Democratic House Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar in Tigard to raise awareness about hidden fees on food delivery apps. Food delivery apps are making a killing in hidden fees, hurting local restaurants and taking hard-earned money out of your pocket. You shouldn’t have to pay more for less. As your Congresswoman, I am fighting to pass laws that will hold big corporations accountable and put a stop to deceptive pricing once and for all.

I also hosted the leader of the Small Business Administration, Isabel Casillas Guzman, here in Oregon. We got to tour a few small businesses in Dallas and Salem and talked to local entrepreneurs about the challenges they face. Starting your own business takes grit, courage, and hard work. It was inspiring to hear firsthand from folks who have embarked on this journey, and I will continue working to deliver the resources and support that Main Street needs to thrive.

In addition to these visits, I continued meeting with folks all across our district and gathering your perspectives so that I can bring them back with me to Washington DC:

  • Met with military families and soldiers of the Oregon National Guard’s 41st Infantry Brigade to thank them for their service and offer my support before they deploy to Kosovo. As the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran, I am so grateful for their many sacrifices and I am praying for their safe and speedy return home.
  • Joined Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici to celebrate federal funding we helped secure for a new water treatment plant in Washington County. When complete, this facility will ensure that families in Washington County continue to have safe, reliable drinking water for decades to come.
  • Toured an affordable housing development in Tigard and a furniture bank in Tualatin to learn more about their work to build safe, comfortable, and affordable homes for working families.
  • Co-hosted a town hall in Sherwood with Senator Merkley to answer questions from you and your neighbors and provide a critical update about the work that we are doing to make life better for Oregonians.

… and so much more! In case we didn’t get the chance to connect in-person this month, I still want to hear from you about the issues that matter.

Please take this short priorities survey to share your thoughts with me. You can also call our office at (503) 385-0906 or visit our website if you have questions or need help with a federal agency.

Be well,
