Dear Friend,

From autumn leaves to pumpkin picking, this past month was filled with so many great memories—including meeting with many of you all across our district.

Follow along for a quick look at my October in Review, as well as some informational resources and reminders about how to vote in this election and make your voice heard.

I was honored to attend the graduation ceremony for Primeros Pasos, where some of our neighbors became certified early childhood educators who will help more families have access to quality, affordable child care. I also attended the opening ceremony and toured the brand new Meadowlark Day Program. Through a partnership with Salem-Keizer School District and Trillium Family Services, this program offers critical mental health support for children and teens that will help them be successful in the classroom and beyond.

Furthermore, I welcomed Dr. Geri Richmond, the Department of Energy Under Secretary for Science and Innovation, to our district! We visited local businesses and had important discussions about everything from securing our power grid to protecting the safety of our servicemembers. Our day began at PGE, which serves over a million customers and is creating new, good-paying jobs in our area. We also visited the Smart Power Center and Microgrid in Salem to discuss the role they play in community resilience and renewable energy integration. Finally, we stopped by High Impact Technology to learn more about their innovative protective gear for servicemembers and first responders. Thank you for joining me, Dr. Richmond! I look forward to working with you to deliver the investments Oregon needs for our energy economy of the future.

As the daughter of a retired police officer, I am committed to ensuring that our law enforcement officers have enough resources to do their jobs and keep us safe. That is why I recently met with Keizer Mayor Cathy Clark and Police Chief Andrew Copeland to discuss public safety issues and how I can help. I also met with Aurora Mayor Brian Asher to talk about the city's infrastructure needs. Maintaining open dialogue with local leaders is a key part of my job, and I will continue to work with officials across our district to address pressing issues in our communities and neighborhoods.

In addition to these visits and meetings with local leaders, I also announced new legislative actions I am taking to address the fentanyl and addiction crisis in Oregon. As you may recall, I recently completed a Listening Tour in every county in our district, where I met with law enforcement, district attorneys, county commissioners, and patient advocates to talk about the path forward after Measure 110 and how we can work together to solve this crisis. These new actions are a direct result of conversations I had on the ground. Click here to learn more.

Creating more affordable housing is a top priority of mine, which is why I was so excited to announce nearly $1 million to help do just that. This federal funding will be used to rehabilitate Villa del Sol, a multifamily affordable housing complex in McMinnville that serves farmworkers and their families. I got to tour the apartment community earlier this month and learn all about their mission to provide farmworker families with a safe, affordable place to live.

Lastly, I would like to share a few informational resources as Oregonians are casting their votes in the upcoming election.
