Dear Friend,
I hope you had a joyful and relaxing Thanksgiving. As we enter the final month of the year and finish out the 118th Congress, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on a few key moments from November.
From introducing new legislation to holding important discussions on wildfire relief and prevention, it was another jam-packed month of continued work for the people of Oregon’s Sixth District.

I celebrated a huge milestone this month: I introduced my 30th piece of legislation in Congress!
My Housing to Homes Act would deliver federal support for community furniture banks. In case you didn’t know, furniture banks help deliver home essentials like pots and pans, mattresses, and other furniture to families that are transitioning out of homelessness and into permanent housing. These organizations provide a critical service because having access to a furnished, warm space can have a huge impact on recently housed folks and put more families on the path to stability and self-sufficiency.

Back in Washington, D.C., I continued meeting with stakeholders and community members from our district to help inform my priorities for the new year. One memorable meeting was with Woodburn Mayor Frank Lonergan and city leaders. We discussed Woodburn’s infrastructure and public safety needs, as well as other key issues that are important to residents. I have said this many times, but working alongside local elected officials is crucial to improving quality of life and ensuring that you and your neighbors have access to quality services.
As the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Forestry, I also attended a bipartisan roundtable with United States Forest Service Chief Randy Moore to receive a firsthand status report on wildfire activity and an overview of the 2024 fire season. The bottom line is that we must deliver more resources to impacted communities to help them prevent, combat, and recover from these deadly blazes. And let’s be clear: I am willing to work with anyone—Republican or Democrat—to secure those lifesaving resources for Oregon.
Finally, I am excited to share that I was elected to a new leadership position within the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC). As the incoming Vice Chair of Member Engagement, I will work to enhance participation and collaboration among my CHC colleagues – and in turn, ensure that we are more effective in our work to improve the lives of Latinos and all Oregonians.
2025 is just around the corner, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue serving you and your neighbors in Washington, D.C. As we prepare for a new year and a new Congress, I remain committed to working across the aisle so we can deliver a safer, more comfortable, and more affordable Oregon for all.
