Dear Friend,

Last week, I joined many of you in honoring our fallen heroes, met with small business owners, and hosted a very special guest here in Oregon.

Keep reading for a full recap of what I did in the district – and remember to forward this newsletter to a friend or neighbor!

I started the week in Tualatin, where I spoke at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Tualatin Veterans Plaza. Following that, I addressed the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). As the daughter of a veteran, Memorial Day holds special significance for me, as it does for many of you. It is important to remember and honor our nation's fallen heroes not just on Memorial Day, but every day. Click the link here to hear my commitment to veterans and their families.

On Tuesday, I hosted a roundtable with Head Start providers from across Oregon to talk about the impact of President Trump’s cuts to the program – including the recent closure of the Head Start regional office in Seattle, which also serves Oregon. If these cuts continue, children and families will lose out on critical early learning support that they need to thrive. That is why I am doing everything in my power to sound the alarm and restore full funding for Head Start.

On Wednesday, I headed over to Wilsonville for a walking tour of local small businesses with Mayor Shawn O’Neil and the Chamber of Commerce. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and I am committed to delivering the support and resources that they need to succeed.

I also hosted Veterans Affairs Ranking Member Mark Takano in the district. First we toured an affordable housing development for veterans and then held a roundtable discussion to talk about the challenges our veterans and servicemembers face when they return home — including lack of access to affordable housing, health care, and more. Hearing their perspectives was invaluable and I’ll continue working to ensure that America’s heroes get the benefits they have earned.

Please know that I have veterans on staff ready to help assist you with any needs from a federal agency. Contact my office at salinas.house.gov/casework or call us at (503) 385-0906.

This was just a small snippet of my week, so make sure you are following me @RepSalinas on Bluesky, X, Facebook, and Instagram.

Be well,
