Dear Friend,
President Trump’s Big, Ugly Tax Scam, otherwise known as the One Big Beautiful Bill, became law last week. I was proud to stand up for you and your hardworking neighbors to vote against this terrible bill.

This is about standing up for working families and protecting them from rising costs, cuts to health care, and going hungry
At a time when so many Americans are already struggling to make ends meet, this bill only increases costs, strips away health care, takes food off the dinner table, and increases energy prices — all to give even more tax breaks to large corporations and billionaires.
The bill slashes hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid, known in our state as the Oregon Health Plan, forcing up to 200,000 Oregonians off their health care plans. These cuts could shutter rural hospitals, nursing homes, and health centers, leaving families with higher health care costs and rural patients with little to no access to care
Make sure to forward this email to one neighbor to share how this bad bill might impact them.
This package also threatens nutrition assistance for the almost 800,000 people in our state who count on SNAP to put food on the table. The cuts would make this the single largest rollback of food aid in American history, hurting both Americans and local farmers and grocers. These cuts would extend beyond SNAP to threaten food assistance programs, such as Meals on Wheels.
Not only does this bill increase costs for families, but it is also a fiscal disaster. It will add up to $5 trillion to our national debt, further jeopardizing our bond rating and our children’s future. For a party that claims to care about cutting the debt, it’s clear Republicans care more about kicking working families when they’re down.

I fought this abominable bill every step of the way. I met with countless constituents who shared their concerns about how this legislation would affect them and their communities. I spoke on the House floor urging my Republican colleagues to find the moral courage to oppose the bill. I joined over 100 of my colleagues in demanding an amendment to the Big, Ugly Tax Scam to protect Medicaid and SNAP; Republicans shamelessly rejected it.
This bill is a betrayal of the values we hold in Oregon. I will never support legislation that asks our working families to sacrifice their wellbeing for the sole purpose of enriching the wealthiest few.
