News from Congresswoman Andrea Salinas

Dear Friend,

Mark your calendar — another exciting event is coming up!

I will be co-hosting an in-person town hall on Thursday, August 14th, at 5 PM PT, at Western Oregon University’s Werner Center with Senator Ron Wyden.

Everyone is invited to attend. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about the issues that matter to you and your family. Senator Wyden and I will be sharing updates about our work in Congress on behalf of Oregonians.

Next, I wanted to give you a quick update on all the work I’ve been doing on behalf of you and your neighbors in Oregon’s Sixth District.

(Don’t forget to forward this newsletter to a friend so they can stay-up-to-date on legislation, upcoming events, and more!)

Last Monday, I joined my friend and colleague, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, for a virtual town hall with Centro Cultural to discuss immigration. These are uncertain times for many in our community, and I really appreciated the chance to listen, ensure your voices are heard, and advocate for due process and accountability at every level. If you or a neighbor needs assistance navigating a federal agency, do not hesitate to reach out to my office. We have Spanish speakers on staff who are ready to help.

That following Tuesday, I took a tour of the Durham Water Resource Recovery Facility, which plays a vital role in protecting the Tualatin River and managing water resources for over 600,000 Washington County residents. We finished the tour at the Thomas Dairy Urban Wetland site, a restored natural area that helps manage stormwater, support wildlife, and give the community access to some much-needed green space. The health of our environment and communities is tied to sustainable water management, and I am glad to see this great work happening in OR-06.

On Thursday, I started the day at Aumsville Clinic, where I had a conversation with Maggie Hudson, CEO of Santiam Hospital and Clinics, and other clinicians to learn about the damaging impact of the Big, Ugly Tax Scam on their patients. Many of their rural patients rely on Medicare or Medicaid, and with massive cuts coming from President Trump and the Republicans' bill, many will lose access to potentially lifesaving care. I’ll continue working hard until everyone who needs health care can access the quality, affordable care they deserve.

Later in the afternoon, I visited Recology’s Aumsville facility. Recology is a waste collection company focused on recycling and composting. They’re taking big steps in expanding recycling services in our region. After my visit, I had the chance to meet with Aumsville’s Mayor, Mayor Angelica Ceja Ochoa, to discuss our shared priorities for the City. I’m committed to working alongside our local elected officials to make life better for you and your neighbors.

Please know that you can always write to me about the issues that matter most to you and your family. You can write to me salinas.house.gov/contact.

Be well,
