Dear Friend,

From September 15 to October 15, our nation celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. As a proud Latina and the daughter of a Mexican immigrant, I am honored to celebrate our rich cultures.

Latinos have made huge contributions toward improving working conditions, scientific discoveries, and groundbreaking innovations. And so many Latinos are small business owners, doctors, and leaders making huge impacts in our community. Their contributions have truly shaped our country for the better.

Currently, President Trump and his Administration are launching targeted attacks on our Latino and immigrant communities. I will not stand for this kind of treatment toward anyone, no matter what language they speak, how they identify, or their race. I will continue to call out President Trump and advocate for respectful and equal treatment for every person on American soil.

I am working diligently to ensure that Latinos and all Americans have access to the resources they need to thrive. That is why I introduced a bill to improve access to mental health care and reduce stigma within our Latino communities. It is crucial for Latinos to access culturally competent care from qualified professionals who understand their unique needs. To learn more about the Mental Health for Latinos Act, click here.

Before you leave, I want to share two important resources.

On my website, I have a "Know Your Rights" page that provides information on what to do if you encounter ICE. This page can be translated into Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian, and Korean. Please make sure to share and bookmark salinas.house.gov/rights.

Additionally, if you or a loved one needs assistance with a federal agency, I have Spanish speakers on staff who are ready to help. To get started, visit my website at salinas.house.gov/casework.

During Hispanic Heritage Month and throughout the year, I will continue to advocate for our Latino communities. I am committed to uplifting your stories and celebrating our diverse backgrounds — everyone deserves to be heard.

Be well,
