Dear Friend,
This is the longest shutdown in U.S. history — and Republicans have yet to come back to the negotiating table to reopen the government. Hear my thoughts about the sixth week of the government shutdown by clicking anywhere on the image or visiting the link here.

P.S. Read to the end to learn about some good news regarding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
People across the country, including those in Oregon’s Sixth District, are feeling the direct impact of the Republican shutdown, from missing paychecks to disruptions in federal services, which is only making life harder. If the government shutdown has impacted you, take a moment to tell your story by clicking the link here.
President Trump and his Administration have taken advantage of their own shutdown to create even more chaos in every corner of our country, from firing federal workers to attempting to withhold food assistance from families. I have not been afraid to call out their wrongdoings, and I will continue to speak up until they fix their mess.
I am ready to get back to work to reopen the government, protect your health care, and lower your cost of living. That is why I have been highlighting the negative impact of letting the Affordable Care Act's enhanced tax credits expire at home in Oregon and here in Washington D.C.
Some of our neighbors, Steve and Sue, joined me in a conversation about the real impact that this will have on their own families. The reality is that the costs are too high for hundreds of families, with some choosing to forgo care entirely. Take two minutes to hear directly from Steve about how the expiring tax credits will greatly impact his family.
As a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, I spoke with some of my colleagues in Washington, D.C., to call out President Trump’s unlawful attempts to withhold food assistance from over 700,000 Oregonians. Last Saturday, I joined Senator Ron Wyden at Marion Polk Food Share to discuss the impact they are feeling from President Trump’s cruel and inhumane actions to starve families. However, there is good news...
GOOD NEWS: Starting today, Oregonians should start to see that their SNAP funds have been fully restored on their Oregon Trail Cards. If you are a recipient and have questions about your balance, please call customer service toll-free at 888-997-4447 or visit www.oregon.gov/odhs/benefits/pages/ebt.aspx to learn more.
Although the Trump Administration has been blocking food assistance for nearly 42 million Americans, a federal court order was issued yesterday forcing them to fully release funds to states starting today. The State of Oregon worked diligently over the night to ensure that families can wake up and purchase food for their families today.
