Dear Friend,
Last week, I was busy in D.C. working for you and our neighbors. Stick to the end to read the full update.
As you may have heard, last week the House voted almost unanimously on a bill that would force the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files.

Before I voted to release the Epstein files, I met with survivors of his cruel abuse. These women, many of them who were just girls when they were abused, deserve justice, and I can now say that we are one step closer to making that a reality. President Trump has signed the bill into law, and we now await on the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files. This is about justice, about providing the American people with transparency, and about holding the rich and powerful accountable.

During Rural Health Month, I took to the House floor to speak to my colleagues about the urgent mental health care crisis in rural America. As a founding member of the Rural Health Caucus and co-chair of the bipartisan Mental Health Caucus, it’s especially important to me that our rural communities can access the mental health care they need. That is why I support legislation that would allow people living in rural areas to seek mental health care via telehealth options. Watch below for my full floor speech.
I also introduced two pieces of legislation. One, the Rural Partnership and Prosperity Act, would make sure that federal grants are distributed to rural communities to support their direct needs, like workforce training programs and child care. This legislation would allow us to equip rural communities with the tools they need to succeed for generations to come.
Two, I introduced the Latino Youth Mental Health Empowerment Act. Right now, too many of our young people are struggling with mental health, and this bill would conduct a study on why our Latino youth are facing a mental health crisis and create an awareness and outreach campaign to provide culturally comprehensive mental health resources.
Before I headed home to Oregon, I spoke in a Committee on Homeland Security shadow hearing. I shared stories of U.S. citizens, Sandra and Frank, who were gravely mistreated — physically and mentally — by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The hard reality is that President Trump has ordered his Administration to send ICE into our communities to terrorize our neighbors at any cost to detain undocumented immigrants. Sandra and Frank are just two people out of the many more who have endured horrific mistreatment by ICE. I will continue to call out these wrongs and ensure that people on American soil receive proper due process and are treated with dignity. Hear my full testimony below.
A final note: I hope that you spend this Thanksgiving and holiday season surrounded by the ones you love. I am grateful to serve you in Congress, and I will continue working to ensure that you and your families can thrive in our district for years to come.
