Dear Friend,
President Trump said during a cabinet meeting this week that affordability was a “scam."
From the grocery store checkout aisle to paying your health care premiums, the cost of living is too high. Affordability is not a scam; it is something that hardworking American families, like yours, deserve.
Now that the holiday season is in full swing, folks are looking at their budgets to plan their holiday meals and gift lists. However, one Fox News segment suggested cutting family members out of gift-giving if budgets are too tight. I was shocked to hear this advice rather than a discussion on real policies to bring down costs. Watch to hear my reaction by clicking the link here or below.

As of June, nearly one in 20 households is falling behind on their utility bills — some have had their power completely turned off. President Trump and Republicans' Big, Ugly Bill have only made this issue worse. They slashed hundreds of clean energy jobs that would bring the cost of electricity down for you. Since President Trump has been in office, energy prices have jumped 11% nationwide, and they will jump to a staggering 61% over the next decade.
On top of this, Republicans have yet to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. In Oregon’s Sixth District, 16,000 of our neighbors have received premium notices for next year — some folks' premiums will almost double if Republicans do not act. Right now, we just need a few Republicans to join House Democrats to force a full vote to extend these important tax credits.
Donald Trump and Republicans promised that they were committed to lowering the cost of living across the board, but they have done the exact opposite. I have consistently called out their poor policy choices, from imposing ill-thought-out tariffs on some of our allies to their Big, Ugly Bill, which was packed with policies to benefit billionaires. I am ready to work on solutions that will benefit hardworking Americans, not the top 1%. President Trump, affordability is not a scam — it's a necessity.
It is always important to hear directly from you. Take a moment to let me know if you think that the cost of living is too high.
