Dear Friend,
I just want to take a few minutes to share a quick update on some of the work that I have been doing for you this past week.
GOOD NEWS: Last week, I was in Carlton to share that I secured $1,000,000 for the City of Carlton to improve and update their failing, aging sewer system — specifically 3,800 feet of sewer pipes that were installed almost a century ago. The long-overdue updates will strengthen our communities' sewer infrastructure, public health, and economic prosperity. Click here to read more about this critical funding that I fought for.

Earlier this week, I questioned Dr. Darío Gil, Under Secretary for Science at the Department of Energy, at a House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Hearing. Sadly, his boss, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, is ignoring the climate crisis, dismissing our nation’s scientists, and undermining programs that keep energy prices affordable by cutting tens of millions of dollars meant to help Oregon deploy smart grid technologies. I will continue working to ensure that the Trump Administration is held accountable for stripping away climate-smart programs that benefit our environment and your wallets.

During these past couple of busy days, I introduced two bills that will benefit some of our neighbors. Make sure to forward this email to one person so they can be looped in on the work that I am doing for them.
First, I introduced the Domestic Organic Investment Act, which would give organic farmers and producers the necessary resources to succeed for generations. It will also support local jobs in our backyard, reduce our nation's reliance on imports, and make sure that Oregon farmers are at the forefront of the organic economy.

Yesterday, I introduced the Mental Health Professionals Workforce Shortage Loan Repayment Act, which would establish a loan repayment program to encourage more individuals to pursue degrees in mental and behavioral health to address the shortage of providers — especially in rural and underserved areas of Oregon, where care could be more difficult to access.

Today, I took to the floor to congratulate MaryJo McCloskey, the Head Coach for George Fox University’s women's golf team. Coach McCloskey was recently inducted into the Women’s Golf Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame. Oregon’s Sixth District is extremely proud of what Coach MJ has achieved, and she serves as an inspiration for all of us.
