Dear Friend,
I have two exciting events coming up, and I hope to see you there.
On Monday, March 30, I am hosting a virtual roundtable with U.S. Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Joe Morelle, Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read, and Marion County Clerk Bill Burgess to talk about how we are working together to defend voting rights ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. RSVP to our Zoom webinar by clicking here!
President Trump and Republicans are pushing legislation that would make it harder for Americans to vote, casting doubt about election integrity, and challenging voting rights in the courts. This event brings together public officials from different levels of government to answer questions about what we’re doing to prepare.

Second, I invite you to join me next Thursday in Salem for a discussion focused on the issues that matter most to our seniors, including Social Security and Medicare. This is an opportunity to share your experience, raise concerns, and talk about the solutions you’re hoping to see. The event will take place at Center 50+ from 12:30 PM to 1 PM PT.

Last week, I stopped by a low-income senior housing facility in Salem to deliver $500,000 in federal funding so they can buy life-saving emergency generators. In 2021, the facility lost power during an ice storm, leaving seniors without power for heat or their medical equipment. Everyone deserves to live safely and comfortably, and this money will help ensure our seniors aren’t left in the cold when a crisis hits.
I also recently visited Cherriots, which provides bus service across Salem, Keizer, and the mid-Willamette Valley, to deliver $3 million in federal funding. This money will support the construction of the South Salem Transit Center and Mobility Hub, making it easier for Oregonians to commute safely and conveniently. While I was there, I got the chance to tour some of their facilities, check out their impressive electric fleet, and even drive one of their buses!

On Monday, I visited two different training facilities for our union workers: Sheet Metal Local 16 SMART and IBEW 48 Electrical Workers Training Center. I was impressed by their commitment to safety and craftsmanship. As somebody who grew up in a union family, I know how important good-paying union jobs are for hardworking families. Our federal government should be creating more opportunities for these workers instead of senselessly cutting the beneficial programs they rely on.
This week, I also held a telephone town hall with my friend and colleague, Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield. Thank you to the 4,600 people who listened in and asked questions about our work pushing against the Trump Administration. If you missed the event, I encourage you to come to next Monday’s virtual roundtable on defending voting rights. In addition, you can always write to my office at salinas.house.gov/contact and follow me on Facebook, X, Instagram, and Bluesky.
Be well,
Andrea Salinas Member of Congress
