Dear Friend,
May was another busy month fighting for Oregon’s Sixth Congressional District. I want to share some highlights from the work I’ve been doing for you.
But first, I want to hear from you: I will be questioning Trump Administration officials at upcoming hearings. If you could ask them a question, what would it be? |

Supporting Mental Health
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As Co-Chair of the bipartisan Mental Health Caucus, I’m focused on strengthening our mental health care continuum, expanding access to treatment, and protecting services that families rely on.
This month, I hosted a youth mental health roundtable with high school students in the Salem and Keizer area to hear directly about the challenges our young people face. I also joined The Moment LIVE podcast to discuss my priorities in Congress and how my experience as a mother shapes my work. And earlier this month, I led a group of lawmakers in sending a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. opposing reported plans to promote the “deprescribing” of psychiatric medications; decisions about one’s own mental health treatment should be between the patient and doctor — not politicians.

Preparing for Wildfire Season
May is also National Wildfire Awareness Month. Earlier this month, I joined members of Oregon’s congressional delegation for a briefing from the Forest Service. Officials warned that this year’s low snowpack could lead to a longer, more severe wildfire season. We must be prepared, which is why I will continue advocating for the resources, coordination, and preparedness necessary to keep our communities safe. Visit wildfire.oregon.gov/prepare to receive safety alerts and learn about how you can stay prepared.

In Washington, I spoke in defense of the Roadless Rule, which protects nearly 60 million acres of some of our nation’s pristine public lands. Our public lands play a critical role in human health, our local economies, and the wellbeing of our planet. At a press conference, I made it clear how we’re fighting policies that attempted to roll back these vital guardrails.

Standing up for Science
I had the opportunity to meet the incredible astronauts from NASA’s Artemis II mission. As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, I am working to maintain America’s status as a global leader in exploration, research, and innovation. I recently introduced bipartisan legislation to unlock the development of clean geothermal energy in Oregon and across the country and hope it passes the House later this summer.

Protecting our Neighbors
Also in D.C., I hosted a hearing on immigration and women’s safety, where I condemned the Trump Administration’s extreme immigration enforcement actions and highlighted how women and families in Oregon’s Sixth Congressional District have been harmed by ICE.

Funding Delivered
This month, I’ve delivered a total of $2.5 million in federal funding to our communities. First, I brought $850,000 to Keizer for the city to construct new sidewalks and create a safer route for students to get to school. Next, I secured $750,000 to ensure that the Newberg community gets reliable, clean drinking water for years to come. Finally, I brought over $1 million to the Oregon Institute of Technology for their Quantum Devices and Computing Initiative.
Hearing from You
One of the best parts of my job is hearing directly from people across our great state. Over the past few weeks, I have held a town hall in Salem, met with veterans at Tualatin’s Memorial Day ceremony, talked to constituents at the Tigard Rotary Club, spoke in classrooms at McMinnville High School, and sat down with students at South Salem High School to hear about the challenges they face. Those conversations help guide my work every day.
