News from Congresswoman Andrea Salinas

Dear Friend,

June is in the books! Here’s a look at how I've been fighting for lower costs, stronger communities, and a more secure future for Oregonians.

Fighting For Lower Costs

This month, I was proud to vote in favor of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, bipartisan legislation aimed at giving Americans a fair shot at homeownership. The bill passed in Congress with overwhelming support from both parties — but President Trump canceled the signing ceremony.

Families across Oregon are struggling with rising prices. At the same time, the Trump Administration's war in Iran has only exacerbated this crisis. I took to the House floor to call on the President to help lower costs.

I also pushed the Trump Administration for answers on the cost of living in two of my committees:

  • Agriculture: I questioned the Secretary of Agriculture about the growing pressures on our farmers. The Trump Administration’s policies have burdened our farmers with low crop prices, high input costs, and trade practices that have harmed our export markets. Our farmers are hurting, but there's no clear timeline to fix it.

  • Energy: I brought similar questions to the Secretary of Energy during a Committee on Science, Space, and Technology hearing. I questioned Secretary Wright about the impact the war in Iran would have on energy prices and about the other policies that are impacting costs for Oregonians.

Fighting Against Corruption

BILL INTRODUCED: Public servants should work for the people, not for profits. That is why I hold no stocks — and why I introduced the NO PROFIT Act this month. President Trump made thousands of stock trades in the first quarter of 2026 alone, earning him hundreds of millions of dollars. My new bill would stop any sitting president from insider trading. Hear more about it in my recent interview with MS NOW.

Fighting For Innovation

As co-chair of the Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition (SEEC) Innovation and Technology Task Force, I joined Congressman Kevin Mullin for a Bay Area tour highlighting clean energy and climate innovations. I want to ensure our government keeps supporting research and new technology. If we want to stay competitive, keep costs down, and build a more resilient energy future, we have to back the innovators putting in this work every day.

BILL ADVANCED: My bipartisan NSF AI Education Act passed through the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology with unanimous bipartisan support. The legislation will strengthen America's leadership in AI by building the workforce pipelines our economy and national security depend on. I look forward to moving this bill across the floor so we can unlock more opportunities for Oregonians to participate in the economy of the future.

Fighting For Stronger Communities

It was another busy month on the ground. Here are a few highlights:

June was Pride Month! I was honored to speak at Wilsonville’s Pride Celebration. As the mother of a queer daughter, and as a vice chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I care deeply about this work. It is a privilege to go to work every day fighting for a more inclusive future for her and every LGBTQIA+ American.

I joined Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici and the Oregon Nurses Association to see firsthand the tireless work that our dedicated nurses are doing to deliver quality care. They deserve fair pay, adequate staffing, and the resources necessary to continue their important work.

This month was also the fourth anniversary of the Dobbs decision, when the Supreme Court's decision delivered a devastating blow to millions of women seeking to make informed choices about their bodies. I met with Oregonians from Planned Parenthood Action and reaffirmed my commitment to restore, protect, and expand reproductive freedom across the country.

FUNDING SECURED: I am excited to announce that I secured $850,000 to make our roads safer! This investment in the Oregon 99W Corridor Safety Project will save lives, reduce risks for drivers, and support the communities that depend on it.
