Dear Friend,
I spent this past week in Washington, D.C., introducing and passing legislation that would help you.
(P.S. Make sure to forward my newsletter to one of our neighbors so they can stay up to date on all the work I am doing for them!)
Passing Legislation Through the House
I celebrated the passage of not one, but two of my bills through the House of Representatives. Both of these bills will strengthen two industries vital to Oregon's economy.
My Next-Generation Geothermal Research and Development Act invests in research, testing, and workforce development to help meet our need for reliable energy. And my Nucleic Acid Screening for Biosecurity Act establishes stronger standards for nucleic acid screening to help ensure the safety and reliability of our scientific advancements in biotechnology and healthcare. Together, these bills support Oregon jobs and our scientific leadership on a global stage. Now that both of my bills have passed the House, they await consideration in the Senate before becoming law.

Questioning Trump Administration Officials About Our Wildfire Preparedness
Later in the week, I also questioned the U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz during a House Agriculture Subcommittee on Forestry and Horticulture hearing about the Trump Administration’s dangerous plans to reorganize the Forest Service. I raised concerns that shifting critical, trained personnel away from our forests could leave our communities more susceptible to deadly blazes, reduce wildfire prevention, and weaken our public lands. Celebrating Our Scientific Achievements
Did you know that just 57 years ago this week, Americans first landed on the Moon?
That is why I reintroduced my bipartisan resolution to designate July 20th as Moon Landing Day, commemorating the Apollo 11 mission's anniversary. My resolution honors the astronauts, engineers, scientists, and skilled technical workers whose innovation made the Moon landing possible. Now, just 57 years later, NASA’s Artemis program is gearing up to go back to the Moon. As a member of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I will continue to support the next generation of inventors and engineers who will make future missions a reality and inspire generations to come.
