Dear Friend,
You and I both know summers in Oregon are amazing (with the exception of the record-breaking wildfires and smoke). And as we soak in the dog days of August, I wanted to give you an update on some of the work I have been up to.
My Town Hall
First, thank you to everyone who came to my in-person town hall in Newberg. It was great to hear from you about your top priorities. Make sure to forward this newsletter to a neighbor so they can receive updates about my next town hall!

Healthcare Is a Human Right
On Monday, I visited CAP Northwest, where I met with staff who provide critical support to people living with HIV. An HIV diagnosis can bring many challenges, and organizations like CAP Northwest step in to assist people by providing compassionate care and resources. As the Trump Administration cuts vital funding for lifesaving healthcare programs and makes cruel attacks on our LGBTQIA+ community members, I will keep fighting to ensure organizations have the tools they need to deliver the care people depend on.

Farm Tour
On Tuesday, I spent the day traveling across our district to hear directly from farmers and agriculture leaders who contribute so much to our state's economy.
My first stop was Universal Seed in Independence, where their team shared with me how they work with farmers in Oregon to grow high-quality vegetable seed and how they process and test those seeds for use across the globe. Next on my tour was Lucky Crow Farm in Monmouth. Their commitment to growing fresh, nutritious food through community-minded farming is a powerful example of how these local operations help surrounding areas thrive. I wrapped up my tour at Pearmine Farms in Gervais, where I met with a fourth-generation farmer to hear about some of the challenges they have faced this year.
Thank you to everyone who welcomed me and shared their personal experiences. As a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, I will take these conversations back to D.C. to find real solutions that support our farmers, ranchers, and producers.

Improving Our Roads and Bridges
In Wilsonville, I visited Boone Bridge to discuss the urgent need for replacement planning with local officials. Due to the bridge's age and seismic risks, we must invest now to keep the I-5 corridor safe and reliable for commuters. As your Congresswoman, it is my job to secure federal funding to modernize this structure, because safer roads and bridges mean a stronger community and a stronger economy.

Safeguarding Medicare and Medicaid
On the 61st Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, members of my team and I swung by the Marjorie Stewart Senior Community Center in Sherwood to meet with seniors, answer their questions, and assist them with casework. Medicare and Medicaid have helped millions of Americans access the care they need, and I am fighting every day to protect these programs for the next generation of Oregonians.
If you or someone you know needs assistance with a federal agency, please visit salinas.house.gov/casework or call (503) 385-0906 to speak with my team. Know that we are here to help you.

Wildfire Season
Oregon just surpassed 2 million acres burned by wildfires this year. This breaks the record from 2024 — which is devastating. Our firefighters put their lives on the line every day to protect us. That is why I am introducing legislation to expand access to mental health care and peer support for firefighters, which will help them recover from the trauma and stress that comes with the job. Supporting those who protect us is one of the best investments we can make. And I am working with leaders in Congress to introduce new policies to strengthen prevention, protect your homes, and help our communities recover after these fires. Be well,
Andrea Salinas Member of Congress
