Dear Neighbor,

This week, the U.S. House voted to strengthen our federal elections. There is a lot of spin out there about the ‘‘Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act’," also known as the "SAVE America Act." But one thing 83% of Americans agree on: voter identification should be required to vote in federal elections. This legislation does just that.

Below, I'll explain more details about this legislation. Plus, I'll recap more headlines from our week in Washington working for you!

In this week's newsletter:

  • The SAVE America Act passes the House
  • Joining President Trump to support Pennsylvania coal
  • Calling out foreign billionaires for exploiting American taxpayers
  • Wishing good luck to a local Olympian!

The SAVE America Act passes the House

This week, I voted for the ‘‘Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act’," also known as the "SAVE America Act." The legislation, which I co-sponsored, would uphold and strengthen current law by permitting only U.S. citizens to vote in federal elections.

The SAVE America Act would protect and preserve the right of American citizens to vote by:

  • Requiring individuals to present an eligible photo identification document before voting.
  • Requiring states to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – when registering an individual to vote.
  • Requiring states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls.

In fact, strengthening voter ID requirements is supported by an overwhelming majority of Americans. Pew Research conducted a poll in 2025 that found 83% of Americans support voter ID to vote in federal elections.

It's commonsense policy that is neither a red issue nor a blue issue -- it's a red, white, and blue issue.

Joining President Trump to support Pennsylvania coal

On Wednesday, I joined President Trump at the White House as he signed an executive order that strengthens American coal production. The order directs the Department of War to prioritize long-term Power Purchase Agreements with America’s beautiful, clean coal fleet to ensure military installations and critical defense facilities have uninterrupted, on-demand baseload power.

This is a big win for Pennsylvania's coal industry and our hardworking coal miners! Pennsylvania produces the 6.7% of all U.S. coal, the third-most of any state in the country, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

The President's action will strengthen national defense, ensure a resilient electric grid, and make America more energy dominant!

Calling out foreign billionaires for exploiting American taxpayers

During a Ways & Means Committee hearing this week, I called out foreign billionaires and other foreign entities for exploiting American tax-exempt and nonprofit laws.

I'm also concerned about foreign entities funding protests throughout the United States, including recent protests in Minneapolis. Here are a few examples:

  • The People’s Forum, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports disorderly conduct resulting in arrests, which received over $20 million from Neville Roy Singham, a U.S. tech-mogul who resides in Shanghai with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party. Recently, the People’s Forum has joined calls for a national day of protest against ICE and has played an active role in organizing anti ICE protests in Minneapolis, MN and across the country.

  • The Ways & Means Committee has called on both the Biden IRS and Trump IRS to investigate potential revocation of nearly a dozen nonprofits with links to foreign terrorist groups, as well as organizations linked to violence and unrest in the United States. Groups include Americans for Justice in Palestine Education Foundation, American Muslims for Palestine, WESPAC Foundation, Alliance for Global Justice, and The People's Forum.

The tax-exempt nonprofit economy now comprises 15% of GDP, spans more than 1.8 million organizations, and manages over $8 trillion in assets.

The bottom line: Foreign billionaires and entities shouldn't be cheating our Nation's tax-exempt and nonprofit laws while ripping off American taxpayers in the process. Transparency and accountability matter.

Good luck to Team USA in the Winter Olympics, including Butler County's Ava McNaughton!

McNaughton, a resident of Seven Fields, is a goalie on the U.S. Women's Hockey Team. We are incredibly proud to have Ava representing Butler County and all of Pennsylvania in the Olympics.

Congratulations!
