Dear Neighbor,

It was great to see so many of you during last week's district work period! In today's edition, we recap some of our stops around the region.

This week, we are back in Washington where I had the privilege of welcoming President Trump and Irish leaders to Capitol Hill for diplomatic meetings on St. Patrick's Day.

Did you know: Pennsylvania ranks sixth in the United States for the largest Irish population share by state.

Before we dive into the news, thank you to the more than 16,000 neighbors who joined our latest telephone town hall where we helped folks with the new tax filing season! That audience is more than twice the capacity for a hockey game at the Erie Insurance Arena -- thank you!

If you have questions about all the benefits in the Working Families Tax Cuts, or if you would like to hear the town hall again, you can find the replay on our Facebook page.

In this week's edition:

  • Visits & meetings around the region
  • Welcoming President Trump & Irish leaders to Capitol Hill
  • Our Legislative Recap
  • Congressional Art Competition is now open

Visits & meetings around the region

Thank you to the amazing students and staff at Moniteau Jr./Sr. High School for hosting us last Thursday! It was great to speak with students about government and civics, and to learn more about the various programs offered to our local students.

I had the great opportunity to meet with new Erie Mayor Daria Devlin and Erie County Executive Christina Vogel during our district work period. I look forward to working with them to strengthen our city, county, and federal partnerships!

We had a great visit to the Shenango Valley! Thank you to the Mercer County Food Bank for meeting with us in Hermitage. We also had the opportunity to present Joseph and Kristine Altenor, owners of Haitian Sensation in Sharon, with an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol and a Congressional Commendation for their incredible work in the Sharon community.

Welcoming President Trump & Irish leaders to Capitol Hill

Image

As Co-Chair of the Congressional Friends of Ireland Caucus, it was an honor to welcome President Trump and Ireland's Taoiseach Micheal Martin to Capitol Hill on St. Patrick's Day. Following the luncheon with President Trump, I hosted the Taoiseach for a bilateral meeting to discuss the United States-Ireland relationship.

This annual bipartisan event, which first began in 1983, recognizes the enduring bond and partnership between the United States and Ireland.

Our Legislative Recap

The latest on funding for the Department of Homeland Security
  • For the last month, Democrats in Congress have withheld funding for the Department of Homeland Security. They are playing games with national security, and TSA lines are growing at airports across the country. House Republicans have voted to fund DHS several times. It's time for Democrats to join us and END the shutdown.

Co-Sponsoring "The Dalilah Law"

  • Earlier this month, I co-sponsored "The Dalilah Law," which cracks down on states, including Pennsylvania, that give out commercial driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.

In February, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) finalized a rule to stop unqualified foreign drivers from obtaining licenses to drive commercial trucks and buses citing public safety threats. Previously, a nationwide audit by the U.S. DOT exposed Pennsylvania as one of six states with systemic non-compliance in issuing non-domiciled CDLs.

In his State of the Union Address, President Donald Trump announced his support for Dalilah's Law. Learn more about the legislation here.

Record returns thanks to the "Working Families Tax Cuts"

  • The Working Families Tax Cuts are saving American families more money this tax filing season! Just this week, the U.S. Treasury announced the average tax refund topped $3,700 midway through the tax filing season. Nearly half of American taxpayers have claimed at least one of the new tax breaks in the legislation passed by congressional Republicans and signed by President Trump.

I'm proud to have helped craft this legislation. It's a game changer for hardworking Pennsylvania families and small businesses! Learn more about the benefits and how they impact you in our latest edition of "The Good News" newspaper-style newsletter out now!

"The RESTORE Act" supports dialysis patients

  • During a Ways & Means Subcommittee on Health hearing this week, I highlighted my legislation, the Restore Protections for Dialysis Patients Act. The bipartisan legislation aims to ensure that individuals with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) continue to have equitable access to private healthcare and to provide protection of the Medicare Trust Fund. Learn more about the bill here.

The 2026 Congressional Art Competition is now open!

The Congressional Art Competition is an annual bipartisan tradition where high school students from across the nation and right here in Western Pennsylvania compete to display their artwork in the United States Capitol.

The deadline to submit artwork is April 10, 2026. Students and parents may drop off their artwork at any of our district offices in Butler, Erie, or Hermitage.

Learn more about the competition on our website and find our message to students here.
