Dear Neighbor,
I’m reaching out during our busy district work period to provide a quick update on some of the latest news from Washington and right here at home. That includes some major funding news for Presque Isle State Park in Erie County.
Before we recap the news, I also want to take a moment to congratulate our local high school Spring sports teams for all of their success this season! This includes the Union and Laurel softball teams and Meadville boys volleyball team on their state championships.
Great work!

Presque Isle sand replenishment funding has been secured

In February, I led a bipartisan letter with U.S. Senators John Fetterman (D-PA) and Dave McCormick (R-PA), and our state partners, to make it clear: funding for Presque Isle sand replenishment is imperative for the park and for Erie’s economy.
This week, I was to proud to join my Senate colleagues to announce $1.5 million in federal funding has been secured for this year.
Supporting Presque Isle has been, and will continue to be, a top priority for my office. To date, my team and I have helped to secure more than $19 million in federal funding for Presque Isle State Park.
To ensure the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is on track with projects for this construction season, the $1.5 million in federal funds are expected to be released in the next few weeks to keep the award on schedule for July.

Did you know: Presque Isle State Park is the most-visited Pennsylvania state park with more than 4 million visitors each year.

Supporting Pennsylvania businesses in Washington & Harrisburg

This week, I sent this letter, together with my colleague Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA), calling on Pennsylvania state lawmakers to use this year’s state budget process to align Pennsylvania’s state tax code with pro-growth, pro-jobs, and pro-investment policies included in the Working Families Tax Cuts last year.
Pennsylvania has emerged as a critical battleground in the national competition for a modernized economy. Other states are moving aggressively to conform to the Working Families Tax Cuts business tax reforms as they compete for new investment, manufacturing activity, and high-quality jobs.
“We fear that if Pennsylvania ultimately decouples from these federal investment incentives and cost recovery provisions, it will undermine ongoing efforts to improve the Commonwealth’s business climate and place job creators and workers at a competitive disadvantage,” we wrote in our letter. “It would be a major setback if Pennsylvania was seen to be less hospitable to investment in technology, advanced manufacturing, life sciences research, steel production, and factory expansion than competing jurisdictions."

Helping Pennsylvania seniors: A major milestone for my legislation, the "Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act"

Last week, my legislation, “Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act,” reached a major milestone: 290 House co-sponsors, an overwhelming bipartisan supermajority.
I am incredibly pleased to see this legislation reach this defining moment in the 119th Congress. This legislation puts patient care and patient outcomes first, and it will greatly modernize and streamline the prior authorization process.
By passing the bipartisan, bicameral Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act, we can make it much easier for seniors to receive the care they’re entitled to while also alleviating unnecessary burdens on physicians and hospitals.
More than 35 million Americans, including more than 1.5 million Pennsylvanians, are enrolled in Medicare Advantage.
